Texas Tech vs Drake Prediction | March Madness Expert Picks
The Texas Tech Red Raiders survived a late scare by UNC Wilmington in the first round thanks to their putrid shooting from behind the arc. Texas Tech shot just 28% from deep which is a far cry from their usual 38% clip they shot the ball at during the season. The Red Raiders also shot just 65% from the charity stripe and 39% from the field.
With the Drake Bulldogs’ potent offense, another weak shooting performance will see Texas Tech leaving this tournament early. If the Red Raiders can get JT Toppin more looks, that should cause the defense to collapse on him and open up some shots on the perimeter.
While the Bulldogs will certainly be happy with a chance at a Sweet 16 appearance, they can consider themselves lucky to have the opportunity. Missouri shot just 33% from the field and 25% from three-point range yet Drake only won this game by 10 points. While guard Bennett Stirtz was phenomenal again, scoring 21 points, they need a lot more than just him to beat Texas Tech.
Outside of him and Tavion Banks, the other six Bulldogs to play in this game combined for just 31 points. If Texas Tech is able to key in on Stirtz and Banks, Drake will fall apart quickly. If the Bulldogs can get other people involved and improve on their free throws as they shot just 50% from the line against Missouri, they have a chance to knock off Texas Tech.
For our Texas Tech vs Drake prediction, we are picking the Texas Tech Red Raiders to win and move on in the NCAA Tournament.
