The Alexander Mattison fantasy football outlook is currently on an upward trend. While his season got off to a rocky start, everything changed when the Minnesota Vikings acquired Cam Akers. The trend helps with his enticing Week 6 matchup.
Take Advantage of Alexander Mattison’s Fantasy Matchup in Week 6
The transformation in Alexander Mattison’s fantasy football outlook has been surprising. Prior to the acquisition of Akers, he was ranked as RB32 in PPR scoring, with disappointing statistics: 41.5 total yards per game, only one touchdown, and an average of just 10.1 PPR points. However, after Cam Akers joined the Vikings, Mattison’s snap share steadily dwindled, dropping from 79% in Week 3 to a season-low 51% last week.
Despite the reduced playing time, Mattison has capitalized on his opportunities. Since Week 3, he has improved to an impressive RB13 in PPR scoring, with an average of 89.6 total yards per game. While he still has only one touchdown, his PPR point average has jumped to 13.6 per game.
The upcoming showdown with the Chicago Bears shows trends that favor Mattison. Although the Bears had an impressive seven-game streak of allowing running backs to score more than 15 points in PPR leagues, this streak was snapped last week. Oddly enough, it seems that fewer touches might actually be better in this matchup, as it has for Mattison too. In nearly every game this season, running backs against the Bears with 13 or fewer touches have managed to accumulate more than 10 points in PPR scoring. History is also on his side, as in both games against the Bears last season, a Vikings running back managed to find the end zone twice each time they faced off.
While there are concerns regarding Alexander Mattison’s fantasy performance for the remainder of the season, there’s no need to stress over him in Week 6. The matchup against the Bears presents plenty of positives for Mattison, making him an appealing option this week.
