Steelers vs. Giants Overview

This Steelers team won nine games last season with horrific quarterback play. Ben Roethlisberger returns to the lineup, and this very well could be the best shape he has ever been in to start the season. Not only is he right physically, but it appears he is also on top of his game mentally. Using his arm, this offense becomes dangerous yet again, since they have the ability to stretch the field, but they also have the weapons to cause headaches underneath.

Defensively, this may be the best overall defense in the league. They ranked fifth in both points allowed (18.9) and yards allowed (304.1). With a competent offense this season, it only takes the pressure off of this group.

The Giants’ defense, on the other hand, was terrible last season. They were 26th in total yards (377.3), but 29th in yards per pass attempt (7.6). This is what makes this a scary matchup for them, facing off against Roethlisberger has his corps of weapons.

Offensively, the Giants offense has a lot of weapons, but health continues to be the concern. Already, Golden Tate has been limited in practice with a hamstring injury. However, everyone else seems good to go, giving Daniel Jones the best group around him so far with Giants. The Giants offensive line continues to be an issue. Yes, they drafted tackle Andrew Thomas, but this is a scary matchup for his first game as a pro. It could be a spot where the Steelers look to do a little rookie hazing.

Steelers vs. Giants NFL Picks + NFL Odds

Prop Bet

First Quarter Spread: Steelers -0.5 (+100)
The book is expecting a slow start, and that’s understandable. Roethlisberger hasn’t seen the field in a year. However, this is as excited as we have ever seen him. Big Ben has said he’s shaking he’s so excited and ready to go. I find it very unlikely the Steelers come out timid with him under center.

Steelers vs. Giants NFL Pick

Big Ben is back and gets to face a defense that has really struggled against the pass. He could easily throw for 350 yards in prime time. Defensively, the Steelers are elite. They won’t let the Giants keep up with them on the scoreboard.

Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers -5.5
