Among the trio of WNBA betting matchups scheduled for Saturday night is a battle out west between the Los Angeles Sparks and Seattle Storm. Will these recent trends hold up for tonight’s Storm vs Sparks prediction? The WNBA betting odds seem to think so, as they have priced Seattle as a hefty home favorite.

Sparks vs Storm WNBA Betting Game Preview
Los Angeles Sparks Preview
After playing two home games earlier in the week, tonight’s contest marks the third game in five days for the Sparks. L.A. managed to snap a three-game losing streak by edging Washington on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the Sparks’ game against Chicago on Thursday resulted in a 23-point defeat for the home team. The polar-opposite results were merely a microcosm of the team’s inconsistent WNBA betting season thus far.
After being one of the top offensive clubs in the league to begin the year, the Sparks have tumbled down the offensive rating rankings in the month of June. Nneka Ogwumike has been the only consistent thing going for Los Angeles at the offensive end. Aside from her, Liz Cambage is the only other Spark averaging more than 10 points per game. The fact that L.A. has been horrendous defensively hasn’t helped matters either. One would have to trace all the way back to May 14th to find the last time the Sparks held an opponent to less than 80 points in a game.
Seattle Storm Preview
The Storm managed to pull away from Washington in the second half on Thursday night for a double-digit win. Seattle has been on a major roll of late in general. Thursday’s triumph marked the sixth win in the last seven games for the Storm. They enter the day just 2.5 games back of Las Vegas atop the Western Conference standings.
Perhaps the most encouraging sign for Seattle in the last couple of games has been the fact that other players aside from Breanna Stewart have been stepping up offensively. In Thursday’s win over Washington, Jewell Lloyd scored 22 points while center Ezi MeMagbegor had 20 in one of her best offensive games of the season. Last weekend against New York, it was Gabby Williams who led the Storm in scoring. A balanced attack tonight figures to be a major problem for a Sparks team that has been awful defensively this season.

Sparks vs Storm Prediction
The Storm profile as an under team in multiple areas this season. For starters, they average the third-slowest pace of any team in the WNBA. Seattle also leads the league in defensive rating entering Saturday night’s matchup.
The other key element to note for this handicap is the fact that both sides are far from elite offensively. In terms of offensive rating, the Sparks and Storm rank just eighth and ninth, respectively. Both clubs merely hover around the middle of the league as far as effective field goal and true shooting percentages on the season.
Although the two teams combined for 163 total points in their first meeting, the Sparks’ have really struggled to maintain consistency on the offensive end in the weeks since. With the bulk of the scoring on both sides residing in the front court, a slow tempo seems like a logical prediction to make for tonight’s contest.
To top it all off, the WNBA betting odds found at BetOnline list tonight’s game total a half-point higher than the current market consensus. Obtaining a little market value to go along with our handicap and analysis is never a bad idea!
