In an unexpected turn of events, Nick Mullens showcased an impressive performance last week, becoming the fourth different quarterback to start for the Minnesota Vikings this season. Mullens completed 26/33 passes, accumulated 313 total yards, and threw two touchdowns and two interceptions, resulting in a grand total of 19.1 fantasy points. This leaves us asking if Nick Mullens can deliver another outstanding fantasy performance in Week 16.

Nick Mullens Fantasy Football Outlook Week 16

Mullens was utilizing the weapons at his disposal, including Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and TJ Hockenson. This poses a significant concern for the Lions, especially given their struggles in divisional games this season. Both Justin Fields and Jordan Love capitalized on the Lions’ defense, averaging 20 completions on 31 attempts, 276.2 total yards, two total touchdowns, 0.5 interceptions, and an impressive 22.5 fantasy points in the four divisional games the Lions have had this season.

It isn’t just divisional, as the Lions’ defensive woes have been very recent, as evidenced by their last two games where they allowed a quarterback to pass for 223 yards, a passing touchdown, a rushing touchdown, no interceptions, and score 17.5 or more fantasy points. Although Nick Mullens hasn’t scored a rushing touchdown in any part of his NFL career, the other numbers are very good for Mullens to see, and to take advantage of.

Adding to the Lions’ defensive concerns, they have surrendered the sixth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks in the last five weeks. While Nick Mullens may not have been the name we expected to deliver a significant fantasy performances during the playoffs, but here we are. After all, if there’s one name that I would expect to deliver presents around Christmas time, it would be Nick (Saint Nick).
