Industry experts give their advice on sell-high fantasy football trades to make before NFL Week 4!

One of the most difficult parts of fantasy football is figuring out when to jump off the wagon. One can be mesmerized by early-season fantasy football performances, thinking you have a championship-winner on your team. But as we saw with the Green Bay Packers last week, we shouldn’t get too caught up in September performances. It’s a long season, and every player will go through highs and lows. The key to winning championships is pulling off fantasy football trades when you can sell high on a player.

Cooterdoodle (Fantasy Life) — Tyquan Thornton, WR, Chiefs

Coming off of two straight weeks where Tyquan Thornton has led the Chiefs WR corps in receiving yards and TDs, it’s easy to see why fantasy managers would want Patrick Mahomes to keep this up. But with Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy’s return on the horizon, we should see this team’s target share get shaken up yet again. While Thorton’s proven his effectiveness when Mahomes gets the ball in his hands, it will likely turn into a boom or bust situation for Thorton, where any given week could be his time to shine or hide in Rice and Worthy’s shadows.

Zach Brunner (FlurrySports) — Tucker Kraft, TE, Packers

The fantasy value for Tucker Kraft was inflated last year, and it has carried over into this season. Given the lack of length at the Green Bay Packers’ right tackle, and now with Zach Tom injured as well, the Packers will use Kraft to chip on edge rushers before running his route, reducing his chance for fantasy points. On top of that, his value is heavily weighted on touchdowns and yards after the catch (YAC), and all of his YAC ability is based on stiff arms. Kraft had five games last season with more than three receptions, and his average air yards per game was 17.8, per the Opportunity Index. This season, he has had one game with more than three receptions. At best, he will be inconsistent this season. If you can sell him as a top-end TE, go ahead and do it.

Trevor Land (FlurrySports) — Rome Odunze, WR, Bears

Rome Odunze has been a breath of fresh air for Chicago Bears fans, as he has finally taken the next step so far through three weeks. Currently ranked as WR3, Odunze has been an elite WR. While he certainly won’t suddenly fall off a cliff, he does have four touchdowns in three games. When he inevitably sees some touchdown regression, so will his value, which is why he is a sell-high for fantasy football trades. While he’ll still get plenty of targets and likely be the WR1 in Chicago’s offense, he won’t be at the level or value he’s at now.

Geoff Lambert (GoingFor2) — JK Dobbins, RB, Broncos

Justin Herrera — Emeka Egbuka, WR, Buccaneers
