New Orleans Saints Preview

After being held to only three points through the first three quarters of last Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, the Saints’ offense appeared to flip a switch in the final 15 minutes. Unfortunately, a rally that actually saw New Orleans take a one-point lead fell short in the end. After losing Jameis Winston for the season to injury, Sean Payton’s squad might be facing an even more difficult situation on Sunday. Star running back Alvin Kamara has yet to practice this week with a knee injury. Although it has been described as “mild”, there is certainly concern going into this pivotal NFL betting matchup.

Fortunately, the Saints did trade for veteran Mark Ingram prior to the NFL’s trade deadline. Now on his second stint in New Orleans, Ingram has already been making an impact. He was undoubtedly brought in to help ease the burden on Kamara but could potentially be facing a much larger role on Sunday. With Michael Thomas officially not returning this season, the cast of receivers remains thin for QB Trevor Siemian. Marquez Callaway and Kenny Stills each pulled in a touchdown last week. It’ll also be interesting to see how Payton utilizes Taysom Hill. No matter what the reps look like under center, the Saints defense will be vital to their hopes of winning this game as NFL betting underdogs.

Tennessee Titans Preview

The Titans continued to defy all odds last Sunday with a defensive clinic in a massive road win over the Los Angeles Rams. Mike Vrabel continues to build a reputation as one of the best coaches in all of football. One week after losing superstar RB Derrick Henry for likely the remainder of the season, it was the Titans’ defense that stepped up. The pass rush has taken a massive step forward compared to a season ago. Tennessee came up with five sacks of Matthew Stafford last Sunday. Three of those came courtesy of Jeffery Simmons, a player who some sharp NFL betting analysts believe is worth a bet to win Defensive Player of the Year. Safety Kevin Byard also came up with a stellar INT, one of two turnovers forced by the Titans’ defense.

While last week’s effort was certainly inspiring, concerns remain about the defense’s ability to replicate that success against the Saints. One has to believe that the Titans won’t be able to escape victorious with only 194 total yards of offense as they did last week. It won’t be easy for Ryan Tannehill to move the ball on a New Orleans defense that ranks third in adjusted efficiency on the season. The onus will be on wideouts A.J. Brown and Julio Jones to deliver on all of the preseason hype.
