It’s time for young rugby players to show their potential on the big stage as the annual historical competition, U-20 Six Nations, is all set to kick off on February 3, 2023, where some of the best European teams will face each other in the round-robin format. Six of the best European teams will be participating in the U20 Rugby tournament, with the following teams to take on each other for the glory: Rugby Fans are in a treat as Six Nations Rugby Championships are all set to kick off this month, with some of the best teams from Europe ready to face each other.

In the U20 championship, 15 matches will be played, with the first to be played on Friday, February 3, 2023, and to be concluded on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

English U20 finished third in the 2022 edition, seven points behind second-ranked France. Lewis Chessum will lead the English side, while Josh Hathaway and Tobias Elliott are all set to make their debuts on the wings.

Scotland’s U20 side isn’t entering the championship in good form. They finished at the bottom of the table in the last edition (2022). Kenny Murray has arrived at the tournament with a talented 34-man squad and wants to change things. Talking about the squad, ten out of 34 players are included after their progression in the Scotland U18. Moreover, 27 players out of 34 developed their skills in Scotland, while seven came through the Qualified Scottish system and qualified to play for the team after meeting the eligibility criteria.

The French U20 side last won the championship in 2014 and would like to make this year their title-winning one. With players like Bordeaux-Bègles centre Nicolas Depoortere (Captain), Pau duo Hugo Auradou, Brent Liufau, and more in the 36-men squad, Coach Sebastian has one of the best squads in the championship and would like his side to go as far as possible.

2023 Rugby U20 Six Nations Championship Format:

Regarding the U-20 championship, matches will be played on Fridays (except the final round, set to place on Sunday, March 19), in the round-robin format, with each team to face each other once and then accumulate the points to select the champion.

Points Distribution:

  • The winning team will get four points or five (if the team scores four or more tries).
  • The losing side won’t get any points or one point (if the team scores four or more tries by a margin of seven or fewer points) or two points (if the team scores four or more tries and loses by a margin of seven or fewer points).
  • Each drawing team will get two points, and the team scoring four or more tries will get one extra point.
  • A team that wins all of its five games (Grand Slam) will get three extra points.
