When is the 2026 NFL Draft?
The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The draft will take place in Pittsburgh, PA. It is a football city that will provide a great backdrop for the draft festivities, but everyone is crossing their fingers that the weather cooperates. Only Round 1 will take place on Thursday. Rounds 2-3 will take place on April 24th, with the remaining four rounds wrapping up on Sunday, April 25th. There will be 257 players selected across the seven rounds, with many more getting phone calls immediately afterward.
Rueben Bain Jr. Scouting Report
Strengths
Rueben Bain Jr. is a physical edge rusher who can become an every-down type of player. And after being coached by the legend Jason Taylor, that is likely what he will try to accomplish.
Bain has the strength of an interior defender, but his explosiveness and feet allow him to play well on the edge. He also has the speed to get around tackles. Thanks to that good coaching we mentioned, his hand technique is great, and they work in tandem with his feet to get the most out of his movements and create space.
Weaknesses
The biggest weakness for Bain, from my point of view, is his short arms, since this isn’t something that will change. As stated above, his technique helps him overcome this lack of length right now, but he could have less success against NFL tackles, and it will become a larger issue when he becomes less athletic with age.
Rueben Bain Jr. also seeks contact more than he avoids it in run defense, and his speed to the ball, or the quarterback, is just average.
