Quentin Johnston Draft Profile

Strengths

Quentin Johnston’s combination of height, weight and speed could cement him as a great NFL-caliber wide receiver for years to come. Johnston’s 6’2″ frame allows him to eat into defensive cushions quickly and he has the speed to form separation from opposing defenders. His speed and athleticism show up on contested catches, and his catch radius is well above average — making him a prime candidate for a team with an accurate quarterback, so long as he works on his hands.

Weaknesses

Johnston may have all the tools to consistently win 50/50 catches, but his success rate on contested catches was much lower than it should’ve been for a receiver of his size, especially playing in the Big 12. His college production was a bit erratic and his 2022 production seemed lackluster given how successful his supporting cast was. All in all, the size and speed combo is worth the draft pick but he has struggled to create proper leverage in his routes and fails to consistently haul in catches through contact.
