The Edmonton Oilers carry a four-game win streak into tonight’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. This will be the fourth meeting between these teams this season.

The Canucks were able to beat the Oilers on opening night of the NHL season, but Edmonton turned around and became winners of the next three straight, outscoring the Canucks by eight goals along the way.

Oilers vs Canucks Season Series in Review

The Canadian teams are all really doing a number on each other within the Scotia NHL North Division. The Toronto Maple Leafs remain in control of the division, but not by much, as the Oilers are right there nipping at their heels.

As mentioned previously, three of the Oilers 18 wins have come against the Canucks. Thus far, they are a perfect 2-0 when traveling to Vancouver, outscoring and outshooting the Canucks in their own building.

The Canucks biggest advantage in this game is their goaltending. Though neither teams starter is having a record year, the Canucks goalies have been serviceable while the Oilers goalies are what is hindering their team most.

    Oilers vs Canucks Game Preview

Tonight, we get a matchup between the pipes of Mikko Koskinen for the Oilers and Thatcher Demko for the Canucks. Both of them have an opportunity to be the top difference maker within this game.

Demko will likely have a very busy night, as the Canucks rank in the bottom-five of nearly every defensive measurement. The Oilers are set up with the perfect counter, as they rank no lower than seventh in the NHL across all important offensive categories.

The Canucks are in the midst of a home stand, while the Oilers are kicking off a short three-game road trip. In my opinion, you can pretty much throw this out the window because this is just a one off game, and because the Oilers just played seven straight home games themselves, with the three most recent being against the Ottawa Senators, otherwise known as the worst team in the NHL.

Oilers at Canucks Prediction and Best Bet

The Oilers have incredible firepower, which was on display against Ottawa, winning their last two games by a combined 13-3 score, but has really been on display all season.

The Oilers score at the fourth highest rate in the league, and have scored five or more goals in six games this season, and four or more goals in 12 games this season.

Ignore the fact they are playing on night two of a back-to-back, and expect the high scoring to continue tonight on the way to a fifth straight Oilers victory.
