The 2020 season has certainly kept things interesting. NFL Week 7 had it all, with crazy stats, wild finishes and records being broken. Oh, and the Atlanta Falcons flexed their ability to lose games in the most creative ways.

Let’s recap this wild NFL Week 7.

Things to Note From NFL Week 7

1. Wild Finish in Atlanta

With just over a minute to go, Todd Gurley took the handoff, broke through some tacklers, and fell down at the one-yard line, in what was meant to take more time off the clock. Instead, the ball broke the plane and the Lions took the ball down the field with 64 seconds to work with, but no timeouts. Matt Stafford led the Lions to victory, with a strike to T.J. Hockenson for the game-tying touchdown. Matt Prater hit the go-ahead extra point, as the NFL got to watch the Falcons find another way to lose.

2. Steelers Remain Undefeated

The Titans and Steelers squared off in Nashville, in what was another thriller. Both teams came in undefeated, and somehow the Steelers got the victory, despite Ben Roethlisberger’s three interceptions. The Titans had a chance to tie the game up with a 45-yard field goal. Stephen Gostkowski came in and missed it. The Steelers held Derrick Henry to 75 yards on 20 carries.

3. Saints Get Nerve-racking Win

The Panthers played a clean game against their division rival Saints, but they fell short on a last-second field goal. Carolina attempted a 65-yard field goal, which would have set the NFL record for the longest field goal ever, at the two-minute warning. The kick was dead center, but it fell a little short. The Saints did a great job on third down, going 12/14. They picked up 26 first downs, compared to the Panthers’ 18.

4. Browns Improve to 5-1 | Odell Beckham injury

The 2018 first overall draft pick took on the 2020 first overall draft pick for the second time this year. Baker Mayfield threw an interception on his first pass attempt of the game, for the second straight week. Odell Beckham tore his ACL and he is out for the year. The Bengals became the first team in the Super Bowl era to score 33 points, not punt the ball, and still lose. Joe Burrow had a phenomenal day, throwing for 406 yards. But, Mayfield rebounded after his interception to toss five touchdowns, including two to rookie tight end Harrison Bryant. The young tight end was forced into the spotlight after Austin Hooper was hospitalized mid-week with appendicitis.

5. Brady Takes Another Record!

Tom Brady cemented his “Goatship.” With 3:08 to go in the ball game, Brady took the all-time touchdowns lead from Drew Brees, en route to a 45-20 dominating performance against the Raiders. Brady never ceases to amaze, and he now has another weapon to utilize in Antonio Brown.

6. The Patriots… Aren’t Good Anymore

The Patriots’ struggles continued. Cam Newton threw three interceptions, before being benched for Jarrett Stidham, who also tossed an interception. Jeff Wilson ran for three 49ers touchdowns and 112 yards in the 33-6 win. The Patriots have now lost three straight games. The last time that happened was October 2002.

7. Team With No Name Dominates America’s Team

Clearly, the Cowboys didn’t rally together after a drama-filled week in the media. They didn’t even defend their quarterback following a blow to the head. Andy Dalton went 9/19 passing, with no touchdowns and an interception for the Cowboys. The Washington Football Team held Ezekiel Elliott was held to 45 yards. Kyle Allen threw for two touchdowns in a nice showing, while Antonio Gibson ran 128 yards on the ground.

8. Broncos Struggle in the Snow

In what was a snowy day in Denver, the Chiefs took care of business against the Broncos. Kansas City got a defensive touchdown from Daniel Sorenson and a kick return touchdown by Byron Pringle. The Broncos turned the ball over four times, making way too many mistakes to keep things competitive with the Super Bowl champs.

9. Showdown in LA

Justin Herbert and Gardner Minshew battled it out in Los Angeles. They scored a combined six touchdowns through the air and on the ground. The Chargers tied the game up late in the third quarter, then shutout the Jaguars in the fourth quarter while scoring 10 points. Herbert had a fantastic day, as he threw for over 300 yards against the weak Jaguars defense.

10. Cardinals Impress on Sunday Night Football

The Seahawks are no longer undefeated after NFL Week 7. Russell Wilson wasn’t up to his usual standards in the prime-time spotlight. He threw three interceptions to go with his three passing touchdowns. Kyler Murray came back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter, before winning the game in overtime. Tyler Lockett had a monster day, putting up 200 yards and three touchdowns.
