If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 9 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.
If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”
The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup. It may be worth it to look at the NFL betting odds for these games and place some bets as well.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
This week the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, after destroying the Cincinnati Bengals on the road last week. The Eagles come in as 7.5-point favorites, which stands as the third-highest spread of the week. Against the Bengals, the Eagles were able to pound their run game to a victory, which included 108 rushing yards from Saquon Barkley and three rushing touchdowns from Jalen Hurts. More than the run game though, DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown both look healthy and ready to go. It really feels like coming off of three wins in a row, the Eagles are in a strong spot to continue to roll and show up as one of the best teams in the NFC come playoff time.
As for Jacksonville, it has been a season to forget for Doug Pederson and Trevor Lawrence. Sitting at 2-6, we have not seen that jump from this offense that we thought we were going to. Against the Eagles, the offense will have a tough time moving the ball. The Eagles have given up the sixth-fewest rushing yards this season, with 749 yards. Add into that that they have only given up four rushing touchdowns. Through the air, the Eagles have given up the fifth-fewest passing yards this season and have only given up eight passing touchdowns.

Washington Commanders vs. New York Giants
The Washington Commanders take on the New York Giants in an NFC East matchup. Washington opens the game as four-point favorites, coming from a game where they won on a walk-off Hail Mary against the Chicago Bears. That Hail Mary should give the Commanders the momentum that they need to win a very important game.
While Jayden Daniels has been really good this season, the Giants have been really bad against the run. This is a perfect game for Washington to use their two-headed monster in Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler to give Daniels and opportunity to get healthy. The Giants have given up 1,134 yards on the ground this season. If that run game gets going, it should give Daniels the opportunity to set up the play action and help to win the game through the air. Add Terry McLaurin and Zach Ertz into the equation and I think that Washington has far too many weapons for New York to keep an eye on.

New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers
I am continuing the theme of taking the team plays against the Carolina Panthers in this article. The Panthers just don’t have any talent to keep up with anyone in the NFL. This week, the Saints should get Derek Carr back, which is an instant boost in offense. That should be music to the Saints’ ears, as the offense has looked lost since his injury. Before Carr got hurt, the Saints were on a historic pace in the NFL, scoring 91 points in the first two games of the season. In those games, Carr passed for 443 yards and five touchdowns. So far this season, the Panthers have given up 1,913 passing yards and 17 passing touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks. Even though he is coming off of the injury, I think Carr should see a good week, which in turn helps the Saints in this one.
As for the Panthers’ offense, it looks like they are going back to Bryce Young. While Young is still in the process of developing into a true NFL quarterback, they just traded away his number-one receiving option, Diontae Johnson. With David Moore, Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker as his best receiving options, there is nothing that scares you on this Panthers offense.
