NFL Survivor Pool Picks for Week 16 – Buffalo Bills

If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 16 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.

If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”

The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup. It may be worth it to look at the NFL betting odds for these games and place some bets as well.

Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots

The Buffalo Bills open their Week 16 matchup with the New England Patriots as 14-point favorites. The number one story surrounding the Bills has been the incredible play from Josh Allen. Over the past two weeks, Allen has all but solidified his spot as the NFL MVP with 10 combined touchdowns. On top of Josh Allen’s incredible play is the Bills’ ability to run the ball. Joe Brady has turned the offense into a rushing juggernaut. This season, the Patriots have given up the 21st-most rushing yards, so it is easy to think that Allen and James Cook should have their way on the ground.

Much like my Baltimore Ravens pick last week against the New York Giants, this game is a “don’t overthink it” game. If you still have the Buffalo Bills and are still alive in your NFL survivor pool, you have to take the Bills here. This may be the last week that the Bills will be going 100%.

As for the Patriots, I like Drake Maye, but what really scares you on this Patriots offense? Their run game is not great and, in turn, their pass game is not great. I am looking for an absolute domination from the Bills in this game and so should you.

Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Giants

Even though the Falcons beat the Raiders last week, the last month or so has felt very disappointing in Atlanta. Kirk Cousins has been downright horrible this season and Raheem Morris has made the decision to go with Michael Penix Jr. I understand the hesitation with Penix as someone who is inexperienced coming into start in a must-win game, but I truly believe that Penix is that guy. He has a boatload of experience coming out of college and with weapons like Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Darnell Mooney, all he needs to do is get the ball in those players’ hands.

Luckily this week, the Falcons take on the New York Giants. The Giants have been one of the worst teams in the NFL this season and I am expecting that to continue. Robinson has been able to play very effectively over the past couple of games and with the Giants ranking the second-worst rushing defense in the NFL this season, he should continue to thrive.

    Arizona Cardinals vs. Carolina Panthers

The Arizona Cardinals are in the midst of a tight divisional race, as they find themselves one game back from the division lead in the NFC West. That makes this matchup against the Carolina Panthers a must-win game.

The Cardinals open the week as five-point favorites. Over the past couple of weeks, the Cardinals have been able to run the ball very effectively. James Conner was able to tear up the New England Patriots last week and I am expecting that to continue this week. The Panthers have been really bad against the run this season. They are last in the NFL by more than 300 yards given up. On top of that, they have also given up the most rushing touchdowns this season. Once Conner gets going, Kyler Murray and Trey McBride should be able to settle in and use the play-action pass to complement the run game perfectly. This is another game that feels like a “don’t overthink it” and just go with the favorite that is fighting for their playoff lives.
