If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 7 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.

If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick of the week.”

The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup. It may be worth it to look at the NFL betting odds for these games and place some bets as well.

Washington Commanders vs. Carolina Panthers

The Washington Commanders open the week as eight-point favorites against the Carolina Panthers. It may be crazy to say this, but the Washington Commanders are actually a good football team. Jayden Daniels is a rising star and Terry McLaurin is playing the best football of his career. The Panthers have been awful against the pass this season, as they have given up 1,387 passing yards (23rd in the NFL). They have also given up 12 touchdown passes. Kliff Kingsbury has revitalized his career as the OC in Washington and should continue to do so with Daniels this week.

Even though Brian Robinson’s injury status is still up in the air, both Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols have looked good when they have been on the field. Seeing what Washington did last week against a tough Ravens team, gives me confidence that they can take down Carolina.

The Commanders are just a better overall team than the Panthers. Even though Jon Allen is out for the season, I am not sure that anything on Carolina’s offense scares me too much. Even if Carolina does manage to score, they are not going to beat Washington in a shootout.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns

The Cincinnati Bengals have played better football as of late. Joe Burrow has seemingly excelled in his connections with both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins and the defense was incredible last week against the Giants. This week, the Bengals take on a Cleveland Browns team that is getting much worse than they are getting better. I don’t buy into people saying that the Browns still have a great defense because they have not played like it. Other than Myles Garrett, what scares you? Nothing. The Browns have given up a ton on the ground this season, including eight touchdowns. This is a game that I think Cincinnati should be able to get their run game going. Whether it is Chase Brown and Zack Moss, or both, running the ball should be effective in this game.

As long as the Browns continue to put Deshaun Watson out to the pasture, they should be underdogs. With Jerome Ford hurt, Nick Chubb coming off of an injury and Amari Cooper out of town, there is not much that scares you on this Browns offense. This really feels like a “loser leaves town” game for the AFC North rivals. And if that is the case, I am going to take Joe Burrow every day of the week.

Miami Dolphins vs. Indianapolis Colts

This is kind of a weird game, as both of these teams are not very good and probably should have been to start the season. In general, Miami has looked lost since Tua Tagovailoa went down with an injury. To me, this is certainly a game where Tyreek Hill can get going. The Colts’ defense has been really bad this season and this feels like the game that the superstar can dominate. What I like the most though is that Miami should not have to rely on Tyler Huntley in this game. The Colts have given the most yards on the ground this year. Assuming both De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert play, I would imagine that each player gets a healthy dose of carries. With both player’s home run abilities, as well as Hill’s ability, I think Miami should be able to rip off a couple of long plays.

As for Indianapolis, they went down to the Tennessee Titans last week in a close divisional matchup. While I don’t think that Miami’s defense is better than Tennessee’s, I know that even with Huntley, the Dolphins’ offense is superior to the Titans’. If Anthony Richardson starts, I am not sure that anything is too scary for the Dolphins.
