If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 7 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.

If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick.” The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup.

Ugh. Back to the losing column, as Green Bay got its ass kicked in Lambeau Field against the Jets. While the Packers looked horrible, the Jets honestly did not look much better, but they were able to steal the game in Green Bay. The Rams were able to take care of the Panthers relatively easily, and the Bears were a competent Justin Fields away from beating Washington.

Teams Used:

  2. Cleveland Browns
  3. Cincinnati Bengals
  4. Los Angeles Chargers
  5. Jacksonville Jaguars

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are in a spot of transition, rebuild and everything else. Matt Rhule is gone. Baker Mayfield is hurt and backup quarterback P.J. Walker was injured in Week 6. Robbie Anderson also was forced out of the game due to a dispute with coaches, which in turn caused the wide receiver to get traded to Arizona. Good football teams don’t have these problems. If I were Tom Brady, I am licking my chops at the thought of playing this Panther team.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not looked great this season. Injuries all over the offense have proved to be even more than Brady can handle. Most of that can change this week, as it sounds like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin should be healthy. While yes, Carolina does possess somewhat of a decent passing defense, Leonard Fournette is another player on Tampa who needs to get going. The chaos in the Panthers’ organization, as well as going against Brady, makes me love the Buccaneers in this spot.

Green Bay Packers vs. Washington Commanders

The Green Bay Packers are desperate right now. They need a win, after dropping back-to-back games to the Giants and the Jets. The Packers have a lot to figure out on the offensive side of the ball. Receivers can’t get open, linemen cannot keep Aaron Rodgers upright and Aaron Jones has been almost taken out of the game plan. While it feels like it is time to panic in Green Bay, they get to play the Washington Commanders, who are down Carson Wentz, this week. It feels like a perfect week for the Packers to figure it out on the offensive side of the ball.

On the defensive side of the ball for Green Bay, stopping the run is the number one priority. Lucky for Green Bay, there is nothing in Washington’s run game that absolutely scares you. Brian Robinson is still somewhat of a question mark and everyone knows what they are getting out of Antonio Gibson. Taylor Heinicke will make plays with his legs, but I am not sure that is sustainable for Washington to win this game.

New England Patriots vs. Chicago Bears

To be honest, there are not a lot of great “upset” games to choose from this week, which leads us to Monday Night Football. Whether it is Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe this week, I expect the Patriots to win this game. While yes the, Patriots are a shell of their former self, one thing is constant, Bill Belichick. Belichick does not lose many standalone games. I think that would include a Monday Night game against one of the worst teams in the NFL in Chicago.

We all know that Belichick wants to take away the opposing team’s number one weapon on offense. That presumably is going to be David Montgomery. If New England bottles Montgomery, the Bears are going to be in for a long afternoon. Chicago’s receivers are not good enough to get open by themselves, so some sort of motion and play action will be needed. If Montgomery can’t get anything going, there is no play action and no long plays to open receivers. Justin Fields will have a long day looking for receivers on Monday Night.
