If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 4 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.

If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high-risk, high-reward pick.” The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally, my high-risk, high-reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup.

I am finally on the board. Cincinnati took care of business against the Jets last week, just like we had projected. On the other side, I lost my other two picks. In all honesty, Houston probably should have won that game and the Raiders have problems. I think the Raiders may be off of my radar until they show me something that looks somewhat okay.

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Houston Texans

The Los Angeles Chargers got bodied by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. To be honest, even with Justin Herbert having his rib problems, that is a bad loss for the Chargers. While Joey Bosa did get hurt, the Chargers have a handful of talent to more than make up for that.

In all reality, Herbert probably should not have played in that game last week. That is the type of guy that Herbert is though. The third-year quarterback has proven that he would rather be amputated than come out of a game. That makes me love the Chargers in this spot. This is a get-right win for the Chargers. If you play fantasy football, start your Chargers this week.

So far this season, the Texans have played Indianapolis, Chicago and Denver. That is not exactly the greatest quarterback play of all time. Herbert should be Houston’s real first test in the passing department. Keenan Allen should provide a huge safety blanket for Herbert, if he is affected by his injury. On the other side of the ball, the Texans have showed an affinity for Dameon Pierce, but outside of that, nothing really scares you. Davis Mills is continuing to improve and turn into an NFL quarterback, but he is nowhere on the Herbert level. The quarterback play alone should give the Chargers this win.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New York Jets

Pittsburgh Steelers fans are going to be in a mixed bag of emotions after this game. The fan revolt against Mitch Trubisky has started and while that might be great for the fans, it is not so great for the team. The Jets are one of the worst teams in the NFL – which sets Trubisky up for success. The Steelers need to get on track, as they were some people’s dark horse team this year. Trubisky should be able to settle in, get Najee Harris involved and win this game.

What works in favor of Trubisky and the Steelers this game is that the Jets are allowing 231 yards through the air per game. I think that if Trubisky is throwing for 231 yards on Sunday, the Steelers should be happy.

In all reality, the Steelers don’t really have to do much to win this game, other than just relax and do your job. There are reports that Zach Wilson is back and ready to play. This gives the Pittsburgh defense a chance to relax and figure out their game plan without T.J. Watt.

Detroit Lions vs. Seattle Seahawks

Much like the New York Jets, the Seattle Seahawks can be passed on. On the Detroit Lions’ side of the ball, Jared Goff has looked good. Goff has three straight games of passing yardage over 215. In Detroit’s Week 2 game against Washington, Goff threw for four touchdowns. It also seems like T.J. Hockenson is involved in this offense, scoring a touchdown last week. Reports regarding Amon-Ra St. Brown‘s injury are concerning for Lion fans, but I don’t know how much that matters. Seattle plays that soft zone, daring the opposing quarterback to take chances. If there is one thing that we know about Goff, it is that he will take with the defense gives him all day. Players like

Josh Reynolds and Kalif Raymond are sure to rise in fantasy football value if St. Brown does not play. On the other side of the ball, the Lions don’t sport a particularly great defense, but the Seahawks don’t sport a particularly great offense. If Detroit can limit Seattle to under 20 points, which I think that they will, they win this game.
