If you are unaware of what NFL survivor picks are, the basic concept is you make NFL picks throughout the season, but you can only pick a team once. Once you lose, you’re knocked out, so choose your Week 12 NFL Survivor Pool picks wisely.

If you are new to reading my survivor articles, what I do is outline my “lock of the week,” my “value of the week” and my “high risk, high reward pick.” The lock of the week details what team I think has the best chance of winning their matchup. This would most likely be a good team that plays a bad team. The lock is also the official pick for NFL Survivor Pools, meaning we will not reuse a “lock.” My value pick of the week details a mid-tier team that has a good matchup. And finally my high risk, high reward pick details a bad team that has a good matchup.

To recap last week, I went 2-1 on my picks, including getting my lock of the week correct. The Patriots took care of business, the Browns survived against the Lions and the Jets lost by a touchdown against the Dolphins. With that being said, we now have a little bit more of an idea of how teams will look in the future of this season.

Teams Used for “Lock of the Week”

  1. San Francisco 49ers
  2. Green Bay Packers
  3. Arizona Cardinals
  4. New Orleans Saints
  5. Las Vegas Raiders
  6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  7. Carolina Panthers
  8. Los Angeles Rams
  9. Indianapolis Colts
  10. Baltimore Ravens
  11. New England Patriots

Week 12 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Lock of the Week | Week 12 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Washington Football Team vs. Seattle Seahawks

When I was trying to figure out who I wanted to use for my lock of the week, nothing stood out to me right away. After careful deliberation, this game seems to be the most interesting. The Seattle Seahawks are playing very bad football right now. They are not running the ball and are constantly taking shots downfield rather than setting up the long ball. Russell Wilson has taken over the offense and it shows. I do not expect Wilson to get any better this game against a good Washington front four.

On the Washington side of the ball, Taylor Heinicke is playing good football. He has thrown for 256 yards and a touchdown against a good Tampa defense and 206 yards and three touchdowns against a good Carolina defense. This seems like a game where Washington will be able to control the game, running the ball. Heinicke is also electric on prime time.

Look for Seattle to come out flat after they have to travel across the country on Monday Night Football.

Value Pick of the Week | Week 12 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Buffalo Bills vs. New Orleans Saints

Josh Allen is playing bad football right now. He has a chance to right his wrongs this week, as they take on New Orleans on Thanksgiving. New Orleans is down Jameis Winston, which saw to hurt them last week as they started Trevor Siemian. What makes me like the Bills in this game is that Taysom Hill should be very involved in this game. For whatever reason, Sean Payton continues to use Hill, even though he has blown games on numerous occasions.

Buffalo is also a very good football team. They are going through a rough patch in their season right now. Josh Allen is still a top seven quarterback in the NFL and, playing a good Saints run defense, he should be able to use his both his arm and his legs to pick up first downs and even touchdowns.

Look for Allen to carry the Bills against a depleted Saints team to a big Thanksgiving win.

High-Risk, High–Reward | Week 12 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions

I told myself that I was done taking the Detroit Lions, but here we are. Looking at the Lions’ schedule, this may be the only game that they can win. All of the cards are stacked up for the Lions to win here. The main reason that I like the Lions in this spot is that Allen Robinson, Justin Fields, Damien Williams and Akiem Hicks are all out for the Bears. Jared Goff is back, and I know that is not saying a lot, but it matters to have your starting quarterback back.

The Lions should rely on D’Andre Swift, as they have done. Chicago usually sports a solid run defense, but with Hicks out, there is a huge hole to fill in the middle. The Lions should also be blitzing heavy to keep Andy Dalton from getting comfortable.

Look for the Lions to get their first win this year on Thanksgiving.
