NFL Power Rankings Week 6 – 49ers Continue to Dominate

The NFL season has five games under its belt, yet we have more questions than answers. It feels like we know which teams are good, but everyone else? Who knows how bad they really are, making the Week 6 NFL Power Rankings interesting as the list goes on.

The 32 teams below are ranked both on where they stand and where they are projected to go. This means that the injuries of today do play a major factor. The NFL is a short season and every loss matters.

With that being said, let’s jump into the Week 6 NFL Power Rankings!

NFL Power Rankings For Week 6

1) San Francisco 49ers (Last Week: 2)

The San Francisco 49ers took over the top spot in our NFL Power Rankings simply due to how consistent they are. Regardless of their opponent’s talent level, the Niners play their game and typically dominate. How will this team respond to playing from behind? Who knows? We may not find that out this season.

2) Philadelphia Eagles (1)

The Philadelphia Eagles remain one of the league’s top contenders, but if they keep playing with fire, they’ll eventually get burnt. They continue to let their opponents hang around, forcing themselves to finish games perfectly to pull out wins. The Eagles are talented enough to do that against weak opponents, but they’ll have to be a bit sharper when playing other contenders.

3) Kansas City Chiefs (3)

The receiving corps for the Kansas City Chiefs, minus Travis Kelce, needs to figure it out. There are some names to be excited about, but the truth of the matter is that this receiving corps has been mediocre, and they must be able to beat man coverage.

While this may seem harsh, it feels like only a matter of time before Kansas City finds its groove. The fact that the defense isn’t the issue also should scare the rest of the league. The Chiefs essentially have a bye week ahead, since they face the Denver Broncos on Thursday.

4) Miami Dolphins (5)

The Miami Dolphins bounced back in a big way from their loss against the Bills by dominating the New York Giants. Sure, beating a toddler in a race isn’t impressive, but they won nonetheless. Tyreek Hill looks unstoppable and the Miami running game is great. When things are clicking, the Dolphins are one of the most fun teams to watch. However, Miami must figure out ways to win the ugly games in order for them to be true contenders.

5) Jacksonville Jaguars (8)

In their second home, the Jacksonville Jaguars rattled off two international wins. This past week, they dominated the Buffalo Bills, but the final score made it seem closer than it actually was. Jacksonville’s defense is respectable and their offense is dangerous when they are clicking, as shown against Buffalo. While they get in their own way too often, it’s clear the Jaguars have all of the makings of a contender — they just have to put it together.

6) Buffalo Bills (4)

I don’t want to hear about jet lag. The Buffalo Bills did not show up to start the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Josh Allen made too many Josh Allen plays, and not in a good way. Sure, he had a handful of the good Josh Allen plays as well, which is why the Bills are still a top-10 team in the Week 6 NFL Power Rankings.

However, when the spotlight is on them, it appears this team gets in their own way. Additionally, a banged-up defense suffered more injuries this past week, which is concerning in a high-powered AFC.

7) Detroit Lions (9)

The Detroit Lions got a big win without both Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jahmyr Gibbs in the lineup. Many analysts view that hurdle as being the selling point for why Detroit is now legit. Well, they’ve been legit. Also, a win over the Carolina Panthers does nothing for me. They did what they were supposed to do. The Lions are a good team, causing them to rise in this week’s rankings.

8) Dallas Cowboys (6)

The Dallas Cowboys got embarrassed on national television. However, it was against the 49ers, who very clearly have Dallas’ number. That game’s result shouldn’t make you believe the Cowboys are a bad team. They’re not. However, if they have to play the 49ers in the playoffs, they’re screwed.

This past week aside, we need to see the Cowboys’ secondary start playing better. The offensive line must improve for this offense to be successful as well since it’s clear Dak Prescott is unable to lift everyone up around him and overcome other team deficiencies.

9) Seattle Seahawks (7)

The Seattle Seahawks had a much-earned bye week. They remain a top-10 team in our NFL Power Rankings, and Seattle should be viewed as a clear frontrunner to claim an NFC Wild Card spot in a couple of months.

10) Baltimore Ravens (10)

While the Baltimore Ravens’ stock falls with a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, their spot in the NFL Power Rankings stays the same. Simply, no team below them has earned a top-10 spot through five weeks of play.

The Ravens could and should have won this past week. However, drops and other self-imposed mistakes got in the way. As Baltimore gets healthier, they should become a very solid football team. However, the receivers really need to step up. While Lamar Jackson is great, he is not the type of player to make receivers better, so they need to help him out a bit.
