Last week blessed us with what will likely turn out to be the greatest game of the 2022-23 NFL season. The Minnesota Vikings came back from a 27-10 deficit to beat the Bills in overtime, 33-30. With plenty of other games telling us a lot about playoff contenders, here are how the updated NFL Power rankings shake-up in Week 11.
NFL Power Rankings for Week 11
1) Kansas City Chiefs (7-2) (Last Week: 3)
The Kansas City Chiefs got off to a rough start at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars but were able to regroup and secure the victory. After letting Jacksonville recover their own onside kick off the bat, the Chiefs fumbled in the red zone on their first drive. Kansas City turned the ball over three times. Yet, they still pulled out the victory comfortably. The Chiefs have been far from the best version of themselves lately and will need to be better when they travel to face the Los Angeles Chargers next week.
2) Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) (1)
It was bound to happen eventually, but few expected the Eagles to lose their first game at home to the Washington Commanders. While the Eagles do have a legitimate grievance about the blatant missed facemask call on the Dallas Goedert fumble, they still had three other turnovers that killed them. It is impressive that they were able to keep this game close seeing Washington had the ball for over 40 minutes. To score only seven total points outside of the first quarter, however, is far from the norm for Philadelphia.
They’ll have a chance to regroup in what should be an easy game on the road against the Indianapolis Colts, keeping them at the top of the NFL Power Rankings.
3) Minnesota Vikings (8-1) (5)
While the Buffalo Bills did everything they could to give the Vikings the game, a lot of credit needs to go to Minnesota. As they have the entire year, they made sure they stayed within striking distance and capitalized on their opponent’s mistakes. When needed, Justin Jefferson and Kirk Cousins stepped up to the plate. With the Dallas Cowboys coming to town next week, Minnesota has a good chance to stay right behind Philadelphia in the NFL Power Rankings.
4) Baltimore Ravens (6-3) (4)
Baltimore had a bye week this week and will use the extra week to prepare for the Carolina Panthers. Carolina has looked better as of late but a high ankle sprain injury to P.J. Walker will limit their offense tremendously. The Ravens should have a cakewalk of a game in Week 11.
5) Buffalo Bills (6-3) (2)
Once again, Josh Allen turned the ball over one too many times. The Buffalo Bills have now lost two straight and blame can be given to Allen, the playcalling of Ken Dorsey and the defense. They have played solid opponents. However, questions have to be asked if this team will be able to beat contenders come playoff time. Since their win over the Chiefs, Buffalo is just 1-2 and their one win was over a very depleted Green Bay Packers team. With a game against the Cleveland Browns on deck, the Bills should finally get back to their winning ways.
6) Cincinnati Bengals (5-4) (7)
The Cincinnati Bengals had a bye week and will use the extra week to prepare for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh is coming off of a win over the New Orleans Saints but shouldn’t be much of a threat to Cincinnati in all reality. In their first matchup in Week 1, the Steelers won in overtime thanks to Joe Burrow throwing four interceptions. Assuming Burrow doesn’t one-up his Week 1 performance, the Bengals should be able to improve to 6-4.
7) New York Giants (7-2) (8)
The New York Giants didn’t look convincing in their win over the Houston Texans, but they got the job done. As most teams have this season, the Giants ran wild on Houston with Saquon Barkley racking up over 150 yards. The Giants offense wasn’t bad, but there were plenty of drives in which they stalled out just outside of field goal range. If New York can just improve on finishing drives a little this week against the Detroit Lions, they should be able to win this week’s matchup at home.
8) San Francisco 49ers (5-4) (10)
With a 22-16 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, the 49ers are over .500 for the first time since Week 5. The defense has given up just 30 total points over the last two weeks. When the defense is this good, the offense doesn’t need to do much to secure the victory. It was interesting to see Elijah Mitchell out-carry Christian McCaffrey, 18-14. McCaffrey’s use in the running game should be watched moving forward. With the Arizona Cardinals on deck, San Francisco should be leaning on McCaffrey and running all over Arizona.
9) Miami Dolphins (7-3) (11)
The Miami Dolphins looked much better defensively in a 39-17 win over the Cleveland Browns, returning them to the top 10 of our NFL Power Rankings. Miami held the Browns to under 300 yards of offense. They gave up 4.7 yards per carry but jumped out to an early lead so quickly that Cleveland didn’t have the luxury of running the ball as much as they would’ve liked. It remains to be seen if Miami’s defense can hold up against great quarterbacks as they haven’t faced off against one since a Week 4 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Miami’s bye this week should lead to a dominant performance against the Houston Texans in Week 12.
10) New York Jets (6-3) (12)
The New York Jets had their bye week this past week and got it at the perfect time with the New England Patriots on deck. New York has had troubles all season with their offense, Now, they match up with one of the best defenses in the league. Just two weeks ago in their 22-17 loss to the Patriots, the Jets racked up 387 yards but gave the ball away three times. If they turn the ball over more than once, the Jets will be in big trouble in Foxboro.
