As exciting as it was to watch the Detroit Lions topple the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs last Thursday, this week’s matchup should be high-scoring and much more interesting from an NFL DFS perspective. Favorite Captain NFL DFS Picks
Jalen Hurts ($17,100)
Even with someone as explosive as Justin Jefferson ($12,400) right there to make 1.5x the points in the Captain spot, you can’t ignore the quarterbacks, because this game is slated to be a high-scoring affair. Jalen Hurts’ fantasy point total wasn’t the greatest last week against the Patriots, but weather conditions prevented him from airing it out — something he’ll be looking to do this week against a Vikings defense that allowed the most receiving yards to wide receivers last season.
Hurts has his usual dual-threat ability and will be taking advantage of his top targets’ abilities to break away from the Vikings’ poor secondary. Let’s hope for a huge bounce-back game from Hurts, making him a great Captain play in tonight’s DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown contest for Vikings vs Eagles.
Kirk Cousins ($13,800)
If Hurts’ price tag is a bit too much for what you’re looking for, pivoting to Kirk Cousins is a solid option. The Vikings definitely shouldn’t have lost to the Buccaneers last week, but Cousins was quite impressive, completing 75% of his passes for 344 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Another check in the Cousins column is that you can use him to stack with Jefferson. If Jefferson’s going to go off for 30+ DraftKings fantasy points (DKFP) this week, who’s throwing him the ball? And if that isn’t enough convincing, the Eagles’ defense just let Mac Jones throw for 316 yards and three touchdowns last week.

Jordan Addison ($6,400)
Jordan Addison’s NFL debut was nothing short of impressive, dropping 16.1 DKFP and proving he can be the WR2 in this offense early on in his career. The initial worry for Addison was that T.J. Hockenson would demand the second-most targets behind Jefferson, and that is what happened, but Addison was productive on six targets. Even KJ Osborn logged a higher percentage of snaps, suggesting that Addison has some work to do to build his role. However, his big-play ability is there and it’s hard to ignore such an attractive price tag of just $6.4K in this DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown slate.
D’Andre Swift ($4,000)
The offseason hype surrounding the potential of this Eagles’ offense with D’Andre Swift operating as RB1 was pretty intense at times, but seeing him log just 19 snaps and record one carry for three yards and a reception for zero yards had to take some wind out of the sail. Luckily, with Kenneth Gainwell officially sidelined with an injury, the door just opened for Swift to establish his role in this Eagles offense.
Given that he has just a $4K salary as well, he’ll likely be rostered in a very high percentage of players’ lineups. There’s obviously a chance Rashaad Penny ($1,600) is active this week and, if so, he’d be an incredibly cheap option that would take snaps away from Swift, but we’ve all been waiting to see what he can do in a good offense.
