We’re onto the fourth week of the NFL season, starting with Thursday Night Football — a matchup between the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers. Below, I’ll go over my top DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown picks for the Lions vs Packers TNF Week 4 game.
This week’s matchup is interesting from a DFS perspective and features some top talent but there are a ton of injuries in this game, particularly for Green Bay. It could very well be low-scoring but both squads are averaging at least 24.0 points per game thus far.
It’s going to be a fun one, so let’s dive right into how you tackle this week’s DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown fantasy football slate. I’ll highlight my favorite Captain’s plays and FLEX plays below.

Favorite Captain NFL DFS Picks
Sam LaPorta ($12,000)
Coming off a bit of a breakout performance in Week 3, Sam LaPorta is going to be one of the most rostered players on tonight’s Lions vs Packers TNF Week 4 NFL DFS Showdown, especially in the Captain’s spot. The Packers’ defense will present a small challenge, having allowed only 14 receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown to opposing tight ends thus far, but both LaPorta’s usage and production have increased as the season has progressed.
It’s hard to gauge this matchup because both teams have been efficient on both offense and defense. The Lions rank seventh in offensive DVOA (15.5%) and the Packers rank 10th in defensive DVOA (-5.9%). Nothing is going to come easy but his stock is on the rise, and he’s cemented himself as a top option behind Amon-Ra St. Brown. His $12k salary is very generous, too, and allows you to build a rather high-upside DFS lineup tonight.
Jordan Love ($14,700)
I don’t love Jordan Love tonight but he’s been producing over 20 fantasy points per game (FPPG) through three games and will likely be depended on to do it again this week. Both Aaron Jones ($10,800; hamstring) and Christian Watson ($8,200; hamstring) are expected to play, which will certainly help Love complete passes at a higher rate and give him a trustworthy running game in the process. Green Bay’s offensive line is still banged up and the Lions already rank top-10 in pressure rate, so that’s a very concerning area that you’ll want to consider when building your lineups.
While I’m not expecting the game to be a shootout, there will be points and, although his real-life stats could improve, his 22.9 FPPG average so far can’t be ignored. I’d feel comfortable banking on another solid performance at home against a divisional opponent, especially with Jones and Watson back in the mix to add a bit of support to the offense.
Favorite Value FLEX NFL DFS Picks
Luke Musgrave ($6,400)
Much like LaPorta, Luke Musgrave‘s usage and role have increased by the week. While he isn’t receiving the same volume as LaPorta, he was Green Bay’s sole producer through the first three quarters in Week 3 and proved he can be a quality pass-catching option. Aside from his eight targets last week, Musgrave’s matchup against the Lions’ linebackers is very juicy. Through three games, Detroit has allowed the most FPPG (56.9), receptions (25) and yards (263) to opposing tight ends.
Teams are targeting their tight ends against the Lions and this is shaping up to be an even better double-digit performance for Musgrave. Watson’s presence certainly hurts all Packers’ pass-catchers moving forward but he is expected to be on a snap count. We’re riding heavy with Musgrave tonight for our DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown picks.
Josh Reynolds ($6,200)
Josh Reynolds started off strong through the first two games, posting 12.0 and 23.6 fantasy points, respectively, but put up a goose egg in Week 3. He picked up a groin injury in Week 2 and still suited up and logged over 70% of snaps in Week 3, but his one target suggests the groin was still bothering him enough to the point where he couldn’t create separation. Luckily, he wasn’t listed on the injury report for this week and I’d expect him to return to the second or third option in the passing game.
The Packers’ secondary has not allowed many fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season (80.3) but Jaire Alexander is questionable for the second straight week with a back injury and is in danger of missing back-to-back games. Even if Alexander plays, he likely won’t be 100% healthy and Amon-Ra St. Brown ($11,600) will still demand plenty of attention, opening up things up for Reynolds and possibly Kalif Raymond ($5,200), if you’d like to go even cheaper.
With that being said, let’s take a look at my favorite lineup for tonight’s DraftKings NFL DFS Showdown slate for the Lions vs Packers game.
