Mid Major Topics

  • Oakland has surprsingly struggled so far this season, and the struggles continued as the Golden Grizzles fell to Eastern Michigan. Also struggling was Oakland’s conference foe, Northern Kentucky, as they fell to ETSU.
  • Wofford picks up a great upset win over GTech.
  • Stephan F Austin grabbed a phenomenal win to sky rocket in my top 25, knocking off LTech on the road.
  • Loyola Chicago upset #5 Florida, and they have just one loss on the year.
  • Middle Tennessee continues to win and continues to get better and better, as they beat Vandy. The Blue Raiders began to look like the best mid major team again after they absolutely destroyed Ole Miss later in the week.
  • New Mexico State suffers their second loss to a very good San Diego team by five.
  • Idaho beats Washington State by 27, and Central Arkansas beats Cal (also by 27) as the mid majors continue to destroy the PAC 12.
  • UNI continues to impress as they grabbed another fantastic win beating UT Arlington by four. UT Arlington also fell to FGCU to complete a bad week.
  • Valpo takes their first loss, as they failed to even compete with #21 Purdue, and they lost another game to Ball State by one.
  • UNC Greensboro is close to the top of the SoCon, and they picked up yet another solid win by 31 over Elon. UNCG has three losses on the year.
  • Central Michigan continues to find a way to win, as they beat Tennessee Tech by five. CMU has just one loss, barely, to the Michigan Wolverines, and they currently lead the MAC.
  • Vermont, who held down the #1 spot in the mid major top 25, have dropped their third-straight game to Northeastern, which dropped them all the way to #25.
  • San Diego State receives a somewhat bad loss, as they fell to Cal, who is one of the worst power conference teams.
  • Penn stays hot as they took out Dayton by eight.
  • UCSB leads the Big West as of now, after they blew out Montana State by 22.
  • Murray State has just one loss out of the Ohio Valley and they grabbed a solid victory over Illinois State, but they took a loss later in the week to St. Louis.
  • Marshall is starting to show up in the C-USA race, as they beat Toledo by six.
  • Western Illinois is playing great basketball, and they blew out the very good Milwaukee Panthers.
  • UNLV easily handles Illinois for another great win to rise into the top 10 of my mid major top-25.
