The NASCAR season has finally come in. The Daytona 500 is quickly approaching and the fans are happy. With the new season upon us, there are more opportunities for people to make money with the DFS chances. Anyone who starts their engine has a chance to win it and therefore can earn points for you on Sunday. Read below for your DraftKings NASCAR DFS Picks and Daytona 500 predictions.
DraftKings NASCAR DFS Overview
In this NASCAR Cup Series DFS picks column, I will be using DraftKings prices and scoring. Their scoring includes the following:
- .25 points for leading a lap
- .45 points for the fastest laps
- Add/subtract a half point based on the difference in a driver’s finishing position relative to their starting position
- Points based on where the driver finishes

Daytona 500 Drivers to Consider
Denny Hamlin ($10,500)
The three-time Daytona 500 champion (2016, 2019, 2020) starts off the NASCAR DFS picks article, as he is one of the best at Daytona. Denny Hamlin has the best average finish in the past 10 Daytona races. A 13.6 average finish at a plate track is pretty good considering the unpredictability of the races. Combine that with his 30th place starting position, Hamlin will be a good option Sunday. Take the 11 in your DraftKings DFS lineups.
Aric Almirola ($8,000)
Aric Almirola did not have the best Duel race on Thursday night, but that will help you on Sunday. Almirola has been a great superspeedway racer in his career almost getting the win in the 2018 Daytona 500, but got wrecked in the end. Almirola wants to do well in what could be his final Daytona 500. He starts 38th so the points will be there for you to earn if you put him in your lineup. AA is a good option for NASCAR DFS.
Tyler Reddick ($7,700)
The driver of the 8 had a pretty good showing in the Duel until he lost the draft and fell back. Tyler Reddick finished fifth the last time the Cup Series was at this track. Reddick has proven that he can stay up with the rest of the pack and gain spots at Super Speedways. The 8 will start 15th on Sunday so not as many points to gain as the other two, but Reddick is still a solid choice for Sunday. Put Reddick in your DraftKings NASCAR DFS lineups.

Daytona 500 Drivers to Avoid
Kyle Larson ($10,200)
The 2021 Cup Series champion finds himself on the wrong side of this article. Kyle Larson earned the pole for the Daytona 500 on Wednesday night. Larson has never raced at Daytona that well and has said in the past he hates this track. Combining that with him not finishing upfront on Thursday night makes me think he will not do so well come Sunday. Larson will probably lead some laps in the beginning of the race. Other than that, there is no reason to make Larson one of your DraftKings NASCAR DFS picks.
Kevin Harvick ($9,200)
Kevin Harvick has fallen off some when it comes to superspeedway racing. Harvick has not won a superspeedway race since 2010, four years before he came to Stewart-Haas Racing. Harvick has been hit or miss on the superspeedway in the past couple of seasons. Going off of Thursday night I would guess it will be another miss. Avoid the 4 car in your DraftKings NASCAR DFS lineups.
Alex Bowman ($8,600)
Alex Bowman knows how to get on the front row which has hurt his DFS points in the past and probably will again. Bowman starts second and has yet to capitalize on his front-row starts. Bowman only has four lead lap finishes in his eight starts at Daytona. This trend will probably continue, so avoid Bowman this week for DraftKings NASCAR DFS picks.
