The NASCAR Cup Series returns to action for the first time in two weeks on Sunday. Watkins Glen International will play host to the 23rd race of the season. The road course will see some names that people aren’t used to towards the front. Who will be the ones to help you out and earn money on FanDuel NASCAR DFS? Read on for my best plays and avoids ahead of the Go Bowling at The Glen.

FanDuel NASCAR DFS Overview

In this NASCAR Cup Series DFS column, we will be using FanDuel NASCAR prices and scoring. Their scoring includes the following:

  • .1 points for leading a lap
  • .1 points for completing a lap
  • Add/subtract 0.5 points based on the difference in a driver’s finishing position relative to their starting position
  • Points based on where the driver finishes

FanDuel NASCAR DFS Race 23

Go Bowling at the Glen Drivers to Consider

Chase Elliott ($14,500)

The driver who has won the last two times they were at the track. In 2018 he won his first career race and followed it up by winning in 2019. Elliott has proven that he is one of the best road racers out there and this track is his until someone dethrones him. Put Elliott in your NASCAR DFS lineups.

Martin Truex Jr. ($13,000)

Martin Truex Jr. has had some bad races since he last reached victory lane in May. His saving grace has been the road courses the past few months. He has recorded one top ten on ovals since his win at Darlington. The Road courses he’s has had two in the three road course races. His price will probably be lower than it should be so take full advantage of Truex this week.

Daniel Suarez ($7,500)

Not the year he had hoped for on the road courses, but based on his history I am taking him this week. Suarez has an average finish of 8th in his three races at Watkins Glen International. The Go Bowling at the Glen could lead Suarez into the top ten and help gain some momentum for him and your NASCAR DFS lineups.

Erik Jones ($5,500)

Erik Jones is among the underrated drivers on road courses both during this season and in prior years at Watkins Glen. In his three races at the track, Jones has an average finish of 6.3, which is better than Elliott’s average finish. Jones has been ok at the road courses when he has finished and could be a very good value play this week.

Go Bowling at the Glen Drivers to Avoid

Michael McDowell ($7,300)

Micahel McDowell is one that I usually tell everyone to take in FanDuel NASCAR DFS at the road courses, but the way he has driven at them this year has been subpar for him. His average finish here is also abysmal as he has attained a 28.3 average finish. Not the type of finish you want from a guy even if he is a value play. Avoid the Daytona 500 champion this weekend.

Austin Dillon ($6,000)

A guy who is on the bubble for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs finds himself on the wrong side of the list for Watkins Glen International. Austin Dillon’s career at WGI is one of the worst as he has accumulated a 27.8 average finish in his six races at the track. Dillon is probably not going to like seeing Watkins Glen this week and you shouldn’t like him in your lineup.

Matt DiBenedetto($8,300)

Matt DiBenedetto came out the last time and led some laps at New Hampshire but don’t expect that this Sunday. Matty D has an average finish of just 25.4 in his five races at the track. He has had some good runs at the road courses, but don’t expect that this weekend. Avoid the 21 this weekend.

Alex Bowman ($10,000)

Alex Bowman has found victory lane three times this season and has had a very good season so far on the road courses, but his history at the track pushes me away from wanting to take him. His average finish is 23.3 in his four races at the track. With him starting tenth this Sunday, I would look elsewhere for your NASCAR DFS lineups.
