At its most basic form, fantasy football is making a lineup to score the most points. Just pick the best players! Of course, it’s not always that easy. A player’s matchup is valued nearly as high as their skill, and their role in the offense on a week-to-week basis is a big deal as well. After all, I always say opportunity leads to productivity in fantasy football.
So, picking the correct players to start is the difficult part of the game. It’s the reason why so many of you read my weekly fantasy football rankings (thank you). It’s tough to find the players you can rely on week in and week out. However, when you do have some players that you can trust to get a certain number of points, then that is when you have a chance to win your league’s trophy.
In order for you to see who the players you can trust are, I created my fantasy football boom/bust and consistency rankings, which you can get below. Let’s talk about them and help to explain how we can use them!
Boom/Bust + Consistency Rankings | Fantasy Football Stats
These fantasy football boom/bust and consistency rankings are properly named, meaning they measure how often a player is a boom/bust, and if they have any consistency in their game. In order to create a league-winning fantasy football lineup, or a high-scoring DFS lineup, you should have a mix of trustworthy players as well as high-ceiling guys. If you have a team full of players who are boom or bust, then you will be having a lot of terrible weeks.
So, these rankings can help you create the best fantasy team to win your league. They can also help find you players to buy low or sell high on. Maybe the WR9 for the season has five great weeks and four terrible weeks. That may be less valuable than the WR15 who has three great weeks, four solid weeks, and only two stinkers.
While inconsistency can be bad for season-long fantasy leagues, it can be great for DFS and best ball lineups. In best ball, only the best scores are counted, so the inconsistency isn’t much of a negative since you don’t have to make the start/sit decisions. In DFS, if you are looking to take down a huge tournament, you will need several players who completely go off, or “boom,” and these rankings can show you who these potential players are.

Who is the Most Consistent Fantasy Football Player Through 9 Weeks?
To get access to the full Fantasy Football Boom/Bust + Consistency Rankings, they are available through Buy Me a Coffee here under the “shop” section. You will get access to all of the updates through the end of the season. This means you can use this data for next season’s best ball and season-long drafts as well!
For running backs, it may be a surprise that Jahmyr Gibbs has been the most consistent fantasy football RB! While Derrick Henry has been great, he started slow. Gibbs, however, has been a “starter” every single week this season!
As far as quarterbacks go, Josh Allen has great stats and ranks as QB3 for the season. However, he has been a “bust” in one-third of his games. This means he could be the reason for a third of your losses! With that much volatility, he may be someone worth selling, if you can get a high return and still have a solid QB.
Now, there is nobody more consistent than Dalton Schultz this season. However, that’s not a good thing. The TE 25 has been a bust every single week this season. Given the injuries to the Texans’ wide receivers, this is even more disappointing.
