Alterraun Verner Signed Before Training Camp

Any time you are a free agent this late into the offseason, it is important to be able to get to a team before training camp so that they can see your skills and increase your chance of making the 53-man roster. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneer and Tennessee Titan Alterraun Verner was able to do just that on Tuesday, as he was signed by the Miami Dolphins for some cornerback depth.

Verner has a total of 15 interceptions in his career, spanning over the past seven years. His best season was with the Titans in 2013, when he recorded five interceptions. Another great asset about Verner is that he has only missed two games in his career, so he’s very reliable to be able to play if they need him, even as a backup. This writer would definitely keep Verner around as depth and use him often in the slot as he is a bit undersized for a outside defensive back role at just 5’10” and 187 pounds.
