Due to great talent atop the tight end position group in this draft, with Kenyon Sadiq and Eli Stowers, the discussion around Max Klare has been very quiet. Let’s change that. While not a perfect prospect, there is no doubt that Klare has skills that will translate well to the NFL.

When is the 2026 NFL Draft?
The 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 23, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The draft will take place in Pittsburgh, PA. It is a football city that will provide a great backdrop for the draft festivities, but everyone is crossing their fingers that the weather cooperates. Only Round 1 will take place on Thursday. Rounds 2-3 will take place on April 24th, with the remaining four rounds wrapping up on Sunday, April 25th. There will be 257 players selected across the seven rounds, with many more getting phone calls immediately afterward.
Max Klare Scouting Report
Strengths
The top two tight ends in the class get the attention for their athleticism, but Klare is also a really athletic player at the position. He is able to run a full route tree, and he has sneaky fast speed (and I’m not just saying that because he’s white). Klare also runs routes at full speed, which is something tight ends can struggle with.
Along with athleticism, Klare has decent strength as well, though there is room for growth. He showcases this strength after the catch, and he moves bodies as an engaged blocker.
Weaknesses
As mentioned, Max Klare needs to add a bit more strength, given his body type. This shows up as a blocker, but it will improve. He also needs to work on his overall technique as a blocker. Klare has a tendency to have wide hands and a narrow base, so I’d like to see that flipped. And while he is tough after the catch, he needs to protect the football.
