After a poor start to the season, a Jordan Love injury ripped the newly-paid franchise quarterback from the Green Bay Packers’ lineup. Initially, Love was ruled to have a sprained MCL, and it was predicted that he would miss over a month of action. Then, fast improvement and Love avoiding the IR meant he could return sooner. But how soon? Recently, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur had a press conference where he may have given something away.
Now, Matt LaFleur is someone who enjoys a bit of gamesmanship. Was he once again being coy and making the Tennessee Titans prepare for a different type of offense? Or, did LaFleur show his hand and tell Packers Nation that Love is in the air and back on the field for Week 3?
You can decide for yourself in this video from a recent Green Bay Packers press conference with Matt LaFleur. The head coach was asked if Jordan Love was medically cleared to play. The coach’s response:

Matt LaFleur certainly suggested above that Love could play this week against the Tennessee Titans. However, with the Titans having a tough defense, this being a nearly meaningless game against an AFC opponent, and us having the Malik Willis “revenge game” storyline, it doesn’t make much sense for Love to return this week. Of course, with the Packers facing the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4, it makes Love resting another week even more meaningful.
But as Matt LaFleur said, Jordan Love’s desire to return will play a part in his injury status for the game. After a poor performance in Week 1, Love certainly would love (no pun intended) to get back on the field and prove that he deserves the large contract he received this offseason.
The Packers have also elevated quarterback Sean Clifford from the practice squad. So, it does appear my prediction of Week 4 will be correct… unless Green Bay feels the need to make Clifford active for some unidentifiable reason.
