When the Baltimore Ravens take the field in the AFC Divisional Round against the Houston Texans, they will be doing so without one of their top weapons. All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews was not activated off of Injured Reserve Friday night, meaning the Ravens will need to hope they can win without him. With Mark Andrews’ injury still severe enough to keep him out for another week, what is the updated timeline for the Ravens’ top weapon?

Mark Andrews’ Injury Update Rules Him Out for Divisional Round

Although there was hope that he could return on time, Baltimore Ravens all-pro tight end Mark Andrews was not activated from Injured Reserve on Friday night. Andrews had been practicing with the team throughout the week and Baltimore was happy with how he looked on the practice field. This week was the first time Mark Andrews participated in any team practices since initially injuring his ankle during their Week 11 Thursday night matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Andrews suffered ligament damage to his right ankle.

It’s clear that since he was designated to return from IR last Friday, that they hold hope that he can come back for their playoff run. It would appear that the Ravens believe Andrews just needs a little more time to recover from his injury.

Injury Return Timeline

With Andrews practicing this week, it seems that there’s a strong chance he will return to the Ravens’ lineup should they win against the Texans. Mark Andrews’ injury return would make an already potent offense even more dangerous in the playoffs. Although he has taken a slight step back in production compared to his insane 2021 season, he is still a focal point of the offense, combining for 118 receptions, just under 1,400 receiving yards, and 11 touchdowns in the last year and a half.

Current odds have the Baltimore Ravens at +275 to win the Super Bowl. With a win over a surging Houston team, and the possible return of their best receiving weapon, they could have enough firepower to win their first Super Bowl since 2013.
