We may have witnessed the craziest opening weekend of March Madness in history. The Sweet 16 is so insane that in the south region, this is the first time ever that the top four seeds were all out of the tournament this early (Virginia, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Arizona).
Enjoy the rankings, but with the way this tournament is going, they will likely mean nothing!

Sweet 16 Notes
The Villanova Wildcats have dominated in the NCAA Tournament, and I was particularly impressed that they blew out Alabama the way they did. Nova has the toughest match-up in the Sweet 16 for a top-seeded team, as they take on West Virginia, who is the only team that also had no problem in either of their first weekend match-ups. Villanova is the best team in the field right now, but look what happened to Virginia.
A potential Kansas versus Duke Elite 8 game to get to the Final Four is on the horizon, but first Kansas will have to beat red hot Clemson, and Duke will have to beat Syracuse’s incredible defense that shut down Michigan State’s tournament dreams.
Kentucky has the easiest road to the final four, but will they capitalize?
Texas Tech versus Purdue is likely the most even Sweet 16 game, and that will be fantastic to watch on Friday night. The winner has a real shot at making it to the Final Four.
Many people picked Michigan to go to the Final Four, and the road for the Wolverines just got easier. If they can overcome the size of Texas A&M and Gonzaga can get passed Florida State, Michigan versus Gonzaga would be must-see TV for a Final Four spot.
In terms of more madness, I am going to be pulling hard for Sister Jean and Loyola Chicago to reach the final four, and I think it is entirely possible.
To everyone reading this, enjoy the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 this weekend. This is the most amazing tournament and sport on the planet!
