The Malik Willis’ fantasy football value is high after signing with the Miami Dolphins in NFL Free Agency.
The top quarterback in NFL Free Agency is spoken for, after Malik Willis chose to sign with the Miami Dolphins. This news came shortly after the Dolphins announced they would cut Tua Tagovailoa, taking on the burden of that large contract.
Let’s talk about Malik Willis’ fantasy football value after signing in Miami, both for redraft and dynasty leagues.
Malik Willis’ Fantasy Value Skyrockets With Dolphins
Over the past couple of seasons, it was clear who the best quarterback on the Green Bay Packers was. Every time he was given the chance, Willis stepped in, performed great, and picked up wins for the Packers. Along with playing well and being valuable for his team, Malik Willis fantasy football owners were blessed as well.
Willis played over half of the snaps twice last season. In these two games, he completed over 80 percent of his passes, averaged 11 and 13.7 yards per pass attempt, respectively, and he threw a touchdown in both games. But where his fantasy value really comes is with his legs. Willis ran for 44 yards in one game, then he ran for 60 yards and two touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens. In Miami, alongside an extremely talented running back in De’Von Achane, running lanes should be present for both rushers.
Malik Willis will also get to pass to Jaylen Waddle, and Miami will likely look to replace Tyreek Hill with another solid, budget receiver. If he stays healthy, there is no doubt that Willis has QB1 potential. He will be just 27 years old next season, so he can be a starting dynasty fantasy quarterback for years to come.
Would you rather have Malik Willis or Fernando Mendoza in dynasty? This is a real conversation, and there is a case to be made for Willis. With the right trade partner, you can absolutely get first-round value for Willis, who you may have picked up off waivers last season.
Malik Willis Contract With Dolphins
The trade to the Green Bay Packers revived Willis’ young career, and he earned big money. The Malik Willis contract details with the Dolphins are three years for $67.5 million, with $45 million guaranteed.
Some will say this is a massive overpay. Yes, Malik Willis played well in Green Bay, but he had limited game reps. However, nobody knows the player that Willis is more than Jeff Hafley, the Miami Dolphins’ new head coach. Hafley was the Packers’ defensive coordinator, meaning his top defense went up against Willis and the scout team in practice all of the time. Clearly, he saw enough to bring him to Miami with him.
