Strengths
Many analysts are saying Brock Bowers is among the best all-around tight end prospects in recent years, so there is a lot to like about his game. The Georgia TE gets to his top speed quickly, and he shows decisiveness in running his routes. He can make the contest catches, but he also has shown the ability to beat linebackers in man coverage as well. Once he gets the ball in his hands, Bowers has great balance which can lead to big YAC numbers.
Along with him being a solid receiver at the tight end position, what puts Bowers over the top is his blocking. Not only is he a willing blocker, but he also has the power to move bodies at the line of scrimmage and the technique to finish blocks downfield. This makes him an every-down weapon for his new team.
Weaknesses
We saw Brock Bowers limited this past season because of injuries, then he didn’t participate in Georgia’s pro day due to an unrelated injury. While far from a red flag, it is worth an eyebrow raise. Bowers also doesn’t have the massive catch radius like some recent prospects at the position. He also appears to have a limited route tree entering the draft, but there’s nothing pointing to this being his fault.
What to Expect From Brock Bowers in 2024
Brock Bowers is a monster. We have seen the evolution of the tight end position over the past decade, and now Bowers enters the league as seemingly the perfect prospect to flourish as the current-day TE. He will be an every-down player right away in his rookie season, much like we saw from Sam LaPorta, due to his combination of receiving talent and blocking ability. Bowers is a difference-maker and an outstanding draft pick here for the Raiders, who will be playing plenty of 2TE.
