Jared Butler NBA Draft Profile

Strengths

The first thing you notice about Jared Butler is his tenacity and defensive prowess. He’s a great on-ball defender, he and has the ability to turn into a multi-positional defender in the NBA. On top of that, his ball-handling capabilities will assure teams he can handle the rock, if need be. Finally, as with almost all of the Baylor players joining the NBA Draft, Butler can be lethal from deep. He hit over 41% of his threes this past year, which will translate well into the modern NBA game.

Weaknesses

Butler comes in at 6-3, but is not as great of a finisher as many teams would like. He’s not as explosive around the rim as say his teammate Davion Mitchell. The only other glaring weakness in Butler’s game is that he can often be careless. He’s not a careless player, but at times he tries to make the difficult pass or tough shot, as opposed to something else. Butler will be a name to watch on NBA Draft night, as his defensive capabilities would make him very attractive to teams looking to win sooner rather than later.
