No sport has a longer offseason than football. That being said, the biggest event of the NFL offseason is just around the corner. The 2021 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place from April 29th-May 1st in Cleveland, Ohio. For the incoming draft class and many NFL teams, it is a weekend of fresh starts and newfound hope for the future. Among those players projected to go early is linebacker Jamin Davis out of Kentucky.
The following is a complete NFL Draft profile for Jamin Davis including stats, highlights and a mock projection.
Jamin Davis
Position: Linebacker
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 234 lbs
Age: 22
College: Kentucky Wildcats
Jamin Davis was a stalwart on a Kentucky defense that was arguably the best in the entire SEC last season. He now enters the NFL Draft after three seasons in Lexington. He uses his athletic 6’4″, 234 lbs. frame to the fullest when playing on the interior. Add his talent at pursuing ballcarriers to his length and Davis is a tough backer to get past. Noted additional strengths include strong focus and vision, good recognition in pass coverage and quick lateral movement. In addition to the stats listed out above, Davis returned an interception all the way for a touchdown and blocked a kick last season.
Despite having just 11 career starts on the gridiron, Davis decided to forego his senior season at Kentucky. Naturally, this lack of experience is a surface-level cause for concern. Despite all of his talent, Davis’ inexperience will show through at times on film. He will need to improve his read-and-react speed at the NFL level. Davis also has a tendency to miscalculate angles when in pursuit.
All 2021 NFL Draft Projections are taken from the latest CBS NFL Mock Draft by Ryan Wilson.
Jamin Davis is currently projected to be drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 37 overall. He is the fourth linebacker selected in this mock draft.
