Jalen Hurd Injury

Coach Kyle Shanahan said in an interview that he would be surprised if Hurd’s injury wasn’t a torn ACL. This is devastating news for last season’s third-round draft pick, after he missed his entire rookie season with a back injury.

Hurd had been flashing signs of potential in practice. The same potential that he flashed last preseason, catching two touchdowns in one game. The breakout candidate will get an MRI to confirm to perceived diagnosis, but it is yet another hit to the Niners’ receiving corps.

49ers Receiving Corps

Deebo Samuel is battling his way back from a foot injury. Shanahan also addressed this wide receiver injury, saying Samuel may not be ready for Week 1. The Niners also lost Travis Benjamin, who opted out of the season.

The 49ers used a first-round draft pick on Brandon Aiyuk this season, and he may be quickly thrust into the WR1 role for this team. Following the star rookie is Kendrick Bourne, Dante Pettis, J.J. Nelson and Tavon Austin. It would not be surprising to see the Niners reach out to someone like Dez Bryant, Taylor Gabriel or, yes, even Antonio Brown.

They need some additional help, following this Jalen Hurd injury.
