In the basement of the AFC South, we find the Jacksonville Jaguars taking on the Houston Texans in Week 1. Neither team is good at football, per se. Still, it makes for an interesting game from an NFL betting perspective.

The following Jaguars vs Texans NFL betting preview will give you the current odds, betting trends and picks for the Week 1 matchup.

Jaguars vs Texans Week 1 NFL Betting Preview

NFL Regular Season — Week 1 Game
Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) vs. Houston Texans (0-0)
Date: Sunday, September 12, 2021
Time: 1:00 p.m. EST
Venue: NRG Stadium — Houston, TX
Coverage: CBS

It’s the Urban Meyer era in Jacksonville, and it has already received mixed reviews. He is certainly taking a unique approach to coaching an NFL team, but criticisms will silence if he brings some wins. Meyer and Jaguars certainly have a good chance to start the season 1-0, facing a weak Texans team that is in disarray. As long as Jacksonville manages to keep rookie Trevor Lawrence upright, he has a good chance to impress in his debut.

The Texans still have Deshaun Watson on their roster. However, he will not be active on game day, with Tyrod Taylor taking the starting quarterback snaps. Of course, if we know anything about Taylor, this stint as the starter will be short-lived, as the football Gods continue to put him over as the unluckiest man in the NFL. This offense is terrible. The defense is also bad. However, with Lovie Smith as the defensive coordinator, they will be throwing different looks at the rookie, hoping to force some mistakes.
