Brian Thomas Jr. Scouting Report
Strengths
One of the biggest strengths in Thomas’ game is that he may be the hardest receiver to cover off the line of scrimmage. He has the speed to burn you, and he has quick moves off the line that both get him open immediately and make it incredibly hard for him to be jammed off of his route. He has great size and can jump out of the building, making him a great asset in the red zone seen by his 17 touchdowns just last year.
Weaknesses
While there is a lot to love about Brian Thomas Jr., he can use some work with drops. They aren’t often, but they do happen more than you’d like to see. In addition, he often fails to try to “sell” plays and doesn’t work back to the ball leading to more pass breakups than you’d like to see. Although he is fast, he isn’t as elusive with the ball in his hands as you’d expect someone with his speed to be.
What to Expect From Brian Thomas Jr. in 2024
Although he didn’t receive the love and fanfare of the top receivers in this draft, Thomas Jr. is just as capable of putting up solid numbers in his rookie season. He should probably see solid numbers as the first or second option in this Jaguars offense this season. While he probably won’t put up elite WR1 numbers for fantasy, he’s still slated to have a solid rookie season.
