Jack Campbell Draft Profile

Strengths

Jack Campbell’s 6’5″, 249-pound frame is hard to miss on the field, and he plays exactly like you would expect. He’s a physical inside linebacker that’s built for the box and will consistently plug running lanes. Campbell’s leadership and communication skills are evident on the field with him consistently neutralizing lead blockers and playing well in zone coverage for his size. Opposing runners rarely get away from him due to his length and attention to blocking schemes before the play.

Weaknesses

Campbell’s biggest weakness is simply how big he is. What you see is what you get with him — and he is relatively limited in the playmaking department. Although he’s a big body that can read plays before the snap, he plays very conservatively and lacks the suddenness that most NFL linebackers possess in today’s game. The lack of burst and explosiveness is expected given his build but it primarily shows when trying to shed blocks. This further bleeds into his coverage skills and often leaves him unable to match while in man coverage.
