MASSIVE Isaiah Likely Fantasy Performance Sparks Debate

The Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs gave us a show to kick off Week 1 of the NFL and fantasy football season. And it was the athletic performances of two young players that took over the internet. For Kansas City, Xavier Worthy looks incredible. On the Baltimore side, the Isaiah Likely fantasy football performance will be one to remember.

And for as good as it was, Likely was a big toe away from an even larger game and forcing overtime as well. Should you pick up Isaiah Likely, and how should Mark Andrews fantasy football owners feel? Let’s dive right in.

MASSIVE Isaiah Likely Fantasy Football Performance

It was clear that the Baltimore Ravens were just trying to get their young tight end the ball in space, with him simply sliding to soft spots in the defense. This is because, with the ball in his hands, you could make an argument that there is no tight end more dangerous. For the few Isaiah Likely fantasy football owners, you enjoyed a fantastic game.

On 12 targets, Likely brought in nine receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown. And again, he was a big toe away from a second score. After one night, he is the leading receiver in the NFL, and his fantasy performance will make him one of the highest-scoring TEs of the week.

Should I Pick Up Isaiah Likely in Fantasy Football?

On Sleeper Fantasy, Isaiah Likely is only owned in 44% of leagues. This will likely be lower on other sites. In other words, the majority of leagues have the Ravens’ tight end available, so should you pick up Isaiah Likely off fantasy football waivers?

The short answer is yes. Of course, this will likely (pun intended) be his best game of the season. However, seeing 12 targets doesn’t happen by accident. It’s clear that Likely will play a major role in the offense this season. This could not have been made more clear than on the final drive, while Mark Andrews watched Likely from the sidelines.

    Mark Andrews Fantasy Owners’ Depression

Mark Andrews fantasy football owners are upset, and rightfully so. The investment in him was high, as his average draft position was TE3, which was a fourth-round pick in many fantasy drafts. So, after spending a high pick on a tight end, the thought is that you got a certified stud that is a lock-and-load starter. Then, Thursday Night Football happened.

Andrews totaled two catches for 12 yards — not good. However, this is a long season, and he will be better in games where the Ravens are playing with a lead, which should be most weeks. He will be more involved than two targets, but last season and Week 1 seem to have proven that Andrews is not one of the elite tight end options. He most likely should be considered a borderline TE1 option for Week 2, but don’t sit comfortably assuming you’re good to go for the rest of the way.
