In the No. 10 The Iowa State Cyclones will play their home games at Humboldt High School for the third season in a row. Head coach Kevin Dresser grew up in Humboldt. The Cyclones will play the No. 18 Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in a rematch from the previous season, in which Iowa State University came out on top by a score of 26-6.
In addition, the Intercollegiate Wrestling Union (ISU) will send a team of 14 wrestlers to compete at the Daktronics Open on Sunday in Brookings, South Dakota. These wrestlers will be competing both attached and unattached. You will find additional information regarding that competition at the bottom of this article.

In its most recent match on the mat, Iowa State cruised to a 50-0 victory over Davidson. Each of the ten Cyclones won with extra points added to their total (6 TF, 2 WBF, and 2 MD). During the match, ISU did not give up a single takedown, resulting in a 43-0 victory in the takedown fight.
It is anticipated that Casey Swiderski will make his collegiate debut this coming Sunday against the Badgers in the 149-pound weight class. He won their first meeting, which took place a year ago, by a score of 10-6. He is now in position to face Wisconsin’s No. 14 Joseph Zargo again.
On Sunday, Kysen Terukina will face No. 6 Eric Barnett, who is ranked among the top 10 competitors. The previous year, Terukina won a sudden win by defeating the highly rated Badger with a score of 9-7. Over the course of the past three years, the Cyclone has a record of 3-2 versus teams that are ranked in the top ten.
The matchup between No. 2 David Carr and No. 4 Dean Hamiti is scheduled to be the highlight battle of the dual. Hamiti, a two-time All-American who finished sixth at the previous year’s NCAA Championships, will provide Carr, a four-time All-American and national champion in 2021, with his first true challenge of the season. Carr won the national championship in 2021. In their lone encounter during the previous campaign, Carr emerged victorious by a score of 7-5.
On Sunday, the much-anticipated game versus Davidson was Cody Chittum’s first game with the Cyclones. Tanner Peake, who competed for Puerto Rico on its U20 World Team, was his opponent in a tough fight, and he prevailed over him with a major decision of 13-3.
A SHOUT FROM THE HISTORY BOOK
This weekend’s dual is a repeat from the first weekend of the regular season from the previous year, when these two teams competed against one another.
In their 26-6 triumph over the Badgers, Iowa State won eight of the ten matches they played against the then-No. 12 Wisconsin team. Cyclone wrestlers were victorious over each of Wisconsin’s five returning All-Americans, and they started the match with four straight victories over Badgers who were ranked in the top 15 in their respective weight classes.
