Injuries are an unfortunate part of football. For the quarterback position the NFL in particular, it has been a hell of a year. This past week saw one of the league’s brightest stars, Joe Burrow, go down to a season-ending injury. As we head down the stretch of the season, Joe Burrow fantasy football owners are forced to make big decisions very quickly.

No, you may not be able to fully replace the projected Joe Burrow fantasy football value. However, there are some names out there on the Week 12 fantasy football waiver wire that could help you out. Below, we will go over how to replace Joe Burrow in fantasy football Week 12 by listing some of the best pickups.

In order to be eligible for consideration, the quarterback must be owned in fewer than 60% of leagues on Sleeper Fantasy.

How to Replace Joe Burrow in Fantasy Football Week 12

Baker Mayfield Fantasy Outlook (48%)

While Baker Mayfield hasn’t turned in any incredible performances over the past five weeks, he still ranks as QB12 on a per-game basis amongst quarterbacks who played at least three games. He has scored over 17 fantasy points in four of these five games as well, showing he can be a consistent contributor and not lose you the week, which is all we’re really looking for when replacing Joe Burrow in fantasy football.

In Week 12, Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts rank in the middle of the league for passing stats allowed as well as fantasy points allowed to QBs. Mayfield should be able to turn in a solid performance in Week 12. Following this week, the Bucs face the Panthers, Falcons, Packers and Jaguars. Clearly, Baker Mayfield is the best fantasy football waiver wire pickup to make in order to replace Joe Burrow.

Derek Carr Fantasy Outlook (39%)

The last time we saw Derek Carr, he left the game with a shoulder injury and concussion. Since then, the New Orleans Saints had a bye week, so Carr’s ownership has fallen despite a stretch of playing well. Now, he is supposedly past the shoulder injury, but he hasn’t cleared concussion protocol yet. Obviously, he still has plenty of time. And if he is active, Carr has a matchup that you can feel good about.

The Saints face off against the Atlanta Falcons this week. The Falcons surrender the 11th-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Obviously, this isn’t a matchup to be scared of even if Carr is limited all week.

Russell Wilson Fantasy Outlook (50%)

If you’re in a position where don’t NEED a win in Week 12, then a solid long-term pickup on the fantasy football waiver wire is Russell Wilson. The overall efficiency and the confidence of the Denver Broncos passing attack continue to grow. Not only has this led to success for fantasy football, but the Broncos are winning games as well.

Russell Wilson’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns this week is one to avoid. However, his schedule afterward is the Texans, Chargers, Lions, Patriots and Chargers again.

Jake Browning Fantasy Outlook (0%)

When you’re looking to replace Joe Burrow for fantasy football, possibly the best choice is the Cincinnati Bengals’ replacement option as well. Jake Browning is the new starting quarterback for the Bengals, and there are reasons to be optimistic.

To start, Browning immediately inherits one of the most talented receiving corps in the NFL, headlined by a feared receiving duo of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. This has to count for something. On top of that, Browning’s schedule doesn’t look too tough right now. Over the next several weeks, he faces the Steelers, Jaguars, Colts, Vikings and Steelers again. On top of the passing potential, Browning also ran for 40 yards against the Ravens, so he does have the potential to get some yards on the ground as well.

While Browning may not be at the top of the fantasy football waiver wire pickups this week, he is an unowned option that you are able to consider.
