This is How the Jets Can Still Make the NFL Playoffs

Aaron Rodgers was supposed to take the New York Jets to the promised land. However, the Jets organization has many more issues than what it had appeared, and even a Hall of Fame quarterback cannot cover up these issues overnight. Now, at 2-5 heading into Week 8, the Jets’ playoff odds appear bleak.

However, now is not the time to give up on this talented team. Not only CAN the New York Jets make the playoffs, but it is very possible. Let’s take a look at the remaining schedule and the Jets’ playoffs odds and you will see what I mean.

    New York Jets’ Remaining Schedule

We have now completed the tough part of the New York Jets’ schedule, and their record certainly reflects that. However, to say that their schedule gets easier is an understatement. According to the stats, the Jets have played the seventh-toughest schedule so far but have the easiest remaining schedule in the league.

Here is the New York Jets’ remaining schedule:

    • Week 8 – at New England Patriots
    • 9 – vs Houston Texans
    • 10 – at Arizona Cardinals
    • 11 – vs Indianapolis Colts
    • 12 – BYE WEEK
    • 13 – vs Seattle Seahawks
    • 14 – at Miami Dolphins
    • 15 – at Jacksonville Jaguars
    • 16 – vs Los Angeles Rams
    • 17 – at Buffalo Bills
    • 18 – vs Miami Dolphins

This week, the Jets have a get-right game against a bad New England Patriots team that had to fly back from London. Assuming the Jets win this game on pure talent alone, it could be the bit of optimism this group needs.

After that, they face a Houston Texans squad that has been unable to pick up blitzes this season. The Jets can definitely take advantage of that. If the Jets manage to stay relatively healthy and win these two games, there is a legitimate chance they are favored to win every single game the rest of the season (except maybe Buffalo).

    New York Jets Playoff Odds

Now, realistically, what are the New York Jets’ playoff chances? According to PlayoffStatus.com, the Jets have a 16% chance to make the postseason. Obviously, that’s not great, but it’s not nothing. That is 11th among the AFC teams, and the top seven teams will make the playoffs.

In terms of the Jets’ playoff odds, they are +265 to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook and +225 on BetUS Sportsbook. This means a $10 bet would win $26.50 and $22.50, respectively. You can bet on the Jets’ playoff odds no matter where you are between these two sportsbooks.

So, clearly, the New York Jets are long shots to make the playoffs, and they will need a little bit of help. However, they have the easiest schedule in the league, a talented defense, the most talented quarterback of all time, and arguably the best trio of offensive weapons in the NFL. Would it be surprising that the Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos, or Los Angeles Chargers lose more games than they win the rest? Not at all.
