Memphis Grizzlies vs Utah Jazz Betting Preview and Prediction | NBA Playoffs

NBA Western Conference Quarterfinals NBA Playoffs Game 1
Memphis Grizzlies (38-34, 20-16 Away) vs. Utah Jazz (52-20, 21-15 Home)
Date: Sunday, May 23, 2021
Time: 9:30 pm EST
Venue: Vivint Smart Home Arena – Salt Lake City, UT
Coverage: TNT

The Grizzlies were able to defeat the Warriors by grinding them down throughout the game. They also benefited from Golden State turning the ball over 21 times. The turnovers committed by Golden State were in part due to solid defense by Memphis, but Golden State is also notorious for not taking care of the basketball (because for many years they didn’t need to). The Utah Jazz are going to be much more disciplined than the Warriors.

The interesting matchup for Game 1 is going to be the momentum of the Grizzlies against a Jazz team that hasn’t played in a week.

Grizzlies vs Jazz Prediction

This NBA prediction uses NumberFire’s probability model. They give Utah a 78.9% chance to win Game 1 of this NBA Playoffs matchup.

The Jazz have not only been incredible at home straight up, they have a 23-13 record against the spread. However, the Grizzlies also have a 23-14 record ATS as a road team. Memphis is also 22-13 ATS as an underdog. I believe the Jazz will get the win at home, even if they have a slow start to the game. However, Memphis has momentum and they match up too well to bet against them. They will be the annoying team that won’t go away, which is why I expect them to cover. (Zach Brunner)
