Gonzaga vs Georgia Prediction | March Madness Expert Picks
The selection committee didn’t do either of these teams any favors by making Gonzaga an 8-Seed in this year’s March Madness tournament. While this team hasn’t been as impressive as it has in previous years, they still have close losses to very good UConn and Kentucky teams while also dominating Baylor and Indiana on the road. As they always have under Mark Few, Gonzaga takes care of the ball and takes high-quality shots. The Bulldogs rank fourth in the nation in field goal percentage and free throw percentage which is partially why they sport an offense that ranks amongst the elite teams in this tournament.
While Georgia struggled in SEC play this year, it should be noted that the SEC broke the record for most teams included in the NCAA Tournament with 14 teams, besting the previous record of 11. The Bulldogs had the 13th-toughest schedule in the nation and were 4-10 against ranked teams this year. While close losses don’t mean much come March, a close 70-68 loss to Auburn along with wins over Florida and Kentucky show just how good this team can be on any given night.
Georgia is one of the tallest teams in the nation, and they use it to their advantage, blocking 15% of shots. Gonzaga will have to work hard to score and will not get any free handouts with Georgia also being one of the best rebounding teams in the nation.
Against any other 8-Seed, Georgia would be the favorite. Unfortunately for them, they are playing an elite team that has been under-seeded. Gonzaga’s efficient offense, lack of turnovers, and elite free throw shooting at the end of the game will be enough for them to move on to the next round.
For our Gonzaga vs Georgia prediction, we are picking the Gonzaga Bulldogs to win and move on in the NCAA Tournament.
