Even though the Florida Gators beat Norfolk State by almost 30 points, they shot relatively poorly from three-point range, shooting just 31% from deep. They did however look as good as they have for the last few months with an efficient offense, knocking down their free throws, and limiting their opponents offensively.
There are so many playmakers on this Florida team and they will need all of them to take down UConn. UConn struggled to stop Oklahoma even though they are a largely two-man offense. When the Gators get better offensive production from Will Richard and Thomas Haugh from deep, they’ll pull away from UConn for good. When UConn struggles to get their shots to fall early, this game will get away from them and they don’t have the talent or depth necessary to claw their way back into the game.
Quite frankly, the UConn Huskies need a lot to go right to knock off Florida. This team is not as deep as it has been in the past and they’ll need more than average production from Solo Ball, Alex Karaban and Liam McNeeley. With the length and depth of Florida, UConn will struggle to get an offense producing at a level that can keep up with the Gators.
