Every Monday, we will be releasing our FCS Spring Football Rankings, with some of the major storylines over the weekend. I was prepared to move (2) North Dakota State to the top of the rankings, but their huge matchup with (3) South Dakota State was postponed. (1) Weber State was lucky to leave Southern Utah without a blemish on their record.

This week, the top-10 was mostly the same, as five teams were idle. Let’s check out our updated FCS Rankings, to go along with some of the big storylines throughout the country.

    FCS Rankings

    1. Weber State (4-0, 4-0) (Beat Southern Utah 19-16)
    2. North Dakota State (5-1, 4-1) (Idle)
    3. South Dakota State (4-1, 4-1) (Idle)
    4. James Madison (4-0, 2-0) (Idle)
    5. Sam Houston State (4-0, 4-0) (Beat Northwestern State 24-16 on April 1st)
    6. Kennesaw State (4-0, 2-0) (Beat Robert Morris 35-0)
    7. North Dakota (4-1, 4-1) (Idle)
    8. Delaware (3-0, 3-0) (Idle)
    9. Eastern Washington (4-1, 4-1) (Beat UC-Davis 32-22)
    10. Jacksonville State (8-2, 5-1) (Beat Eastern Illinois 44-23)

    3. (10) Jacksonville State at Murray State (Sunday April 11th, 3:00 PM ET)

FCS Spring Football Top-10 Headlines | College Football News

    (1) Weber State left Southern Utah with a close 19-16 win on Saturday afternoon. After missing last weekend’s game due to injury, Bronson Barron was back under center for the Wildcats. He threw for a modest 167 yards and a touchdown. Running back Dontae McMillan was great as well, rushing for almost 140 yards and a touchdown. The Cats look to close out their perfect regular season this weekend, as they host Big Sky rival Idaho State.

    (2) North Dakota State, (3) South Dakota State, (4) James Madison, (7) North Dakota and (8) Delaware were all idle this weekend. The Bison and Jackrabbits will meet on April 17th in a huge matchup with major postseason implications. The committee clearly has a lot of faith in the Dukes, even though they’ve only played four games. The Fighting Hawks need to close out the season strong if they want to be playing in a couple of weeks.

    (5) Sam Houston State and head coach K.C. Keeler beat a good Northwestern State team last Thursday. Eric Schmid was on and off all game, but still managed to throw for 312 yards and two touchdowns. However, he did throw two interceptions and completed just over 50% of his passes. If the Bearkats want to make a run in the postseason, Schmid has to be more consistent.

    (6) Kennesaw State was the real winner of the weekend. They dominated Robert Morris 35-0 on Saturday afternoon. Their rushing attack was once again great. The Owls rushed for 332 total yards on the day. Whoever has to play the Owls in the playoffs better prepare for their potent ground game.

    (9) Eastern Washington pulled off one of the biggest wins of the season, beating UC-Davis, 32-22. Eagles signal caller Eric Barriere threw for almost 400 yards and three touchdowns. Talolo Limu-Jones had 10 catches for 154 yards and two scores.

    (10) Jacksonville State make their debut in the rankings, after beating Eastern Illinois, 44-23, on Saturday. The Gamecocks can’t enjoy this win for too long, as they take on Murray State this weekend. The winner of that game likely gets the auto bid for the Ohio Valley Conference.
