Taking a look at the best low-owned fantasy football WR options to play in Week 5, including the Tennessee Titans’ Elic Ayomanor.
With four weeks behind us, now is the time when some separation starts to occur in the standings. With the first byes taking place this week and teams like the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons not having any receivers able to fill holes in your offense this week, you may be turning to the waiver wire to solve some of your lineup issues. While the wide receivers have been tough to predict, it’s not impossible to find some difference makers on waivers.
These are three low-owned fantasy football WR options that you can stream for Week 5, if you are unsure about that final WR spot in your starting lineup! Also, make sure to check out our Week 5 fantasy football rankings!
Note: Players must be owned in less than 60% of ESPN leagues to be included in the best fantasy football streamers column.
Low-Owned Fantasy Football WR Streaming Options Week 5
Elic Ayomanor at Arizona Cardinals (33.8% Owned)
To be completely transparent, Elic Ayomanor did not have a good game last week. With just 44 yards on two receptions, he didn’t help out fantasy managers too much. While that doesn’t paint a positive outlook for this week, his opportunities do. Ayomanor again racked up the targets, with seven in Week 4. In four weeks, he is averaging over six targets per game. Taking out a Week 1 performance that saw him and rookie quarterback Cam Ward’s first game come against the vaunted Denver Broncos’ secondary, and Ayomanor is averaging just under 12 fantasy points per game.
This week, Ayomanor gets a much easier matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. While the Cardinals are certainly not bad against opposing wide receivers in fantasy, they do rank 18th. To put it in perspective, their defense is slightly closer to the Los Angeles Rams and Indianapolis Colts, who rank 23rd and 29th against receivers, than they are to the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans, who rank seventh and 12th, respectively. Seeing his best games came against the Rams and Colts, you can start Ayomanor at your FLEX spot if needed with a fair amount of confidence.

Christian Kirk at Baltimore Ravens (31.2% Owned)
Christian Kirk has only been able to suit up for the Houston Texans in the two most recent games, missing Weeks 1 and 2. Even with the extended absence, he already is second on the team in targets, behind only Nico Collins. In his two games, Kirk has 12 targets and six receptions for 45 yards. Although his output hasn’t been great, his opportunities have been there.
His best game was in Week 3, when he had eight targets on the day. This past week, against the Tennessee Titans, the Houston Texans leaned heavily on their running game to pull away late. That was a main reason that the targets for Kirk dropped compared to Week 3. In that game, the Texans had to pass all game as the Jacksonville Jaguars never trailed. This week, the Texans play Baltimore, and even if Lamar Jackson is out, the Texans will be in a dogfight. That means they’ll need to continue passing the ball, which means more targets for Christian Kirk. There are no guarantees in football, but it’s pretty safe to say this week will be more like Week 3 than Week 4 for Christian Kirk.
JuJu Smith-Schuster at Jacksonville Jaguars (9.3% Owned)
Outside of a very disappointing Week 2 performance, JuJu Smith-Schuster has been an underrated fantasy asset this season. In his other three games, he has totaled 146 yards on 13 catches and a touchdown. The most impressive part has been his consistency during those three weeks as well. He has four or more receptions in each of the three games, along with averaging five targets per game. While that doesn’t seem like a whole lot, it’s enough to average over 11 fantasy points per game.
In Week 5, the Kansas City Chiefs face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars. While that might be a cause for concern due to how bad Jacksonville has been historically, the Jaguars are quietly 3-1 with one of the better defenses in the NFL. The Chiefs won’t be able to just force their way up and down the field at will, and this will at least be a somewhat close affair. That means Kansas City won’t be just leaning on its running game to milk the clock in the second half. They’ll need to be able to pass the ball all game, which means JuJu Smith-Schuster will likely be getting targeted throughout the game. He may not be the flashiest option, but he is a better one than most people are giving him credit for.
