As we move on to Week 9 of the NFL season, we are now past the worst bye week of the season. Still, we have four teams on bye in Week 9. With the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers being just two of the four teams down their receivers this week, the options at the fantasy football WR position are slim. With few good options this week, it’s important that the receiver you choose shows up to play in a big way.

Low-Owned Fantasy Football WR Streaming Options Week 9
Chimere Dike vs Los Angeles Chargers (8.4% Owned)
Although he started as more of a gadget player and a return specialist, Chimere Dike is really starting to come into his own. Over the last two weeks, he has racked up over 16 fantasy points each week and has started to flourish with Calvin Ridley out with a hamstring injury. Even with Tennessee’s struggles, Dike gives a solid floor this week, even against a tough Los Angeles Chargers defense.
In the last two games, Dike has combined for 11 receptions, 163 yards and a touchdown. The best part about Dike is that he is a slot receiver. That means that even if Calvin Ridley returns this week, it likely won’t affect his time on the field. Dike has clearly earned the trust of rookie quarterback Cam Ward, which is huge considering the Titans find themselves playing from behind virtually every second this season.

Christian Watson vs Carolina Panthers (18.8% Owned)
For the sake of transparency, this is a true boom-or-bust option. Christian Watson returned from his knee injury suffered last season and immediately racked up 85 yards on just four receptions against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. Watson helps open up the Green Bay Packers’ offense, giving them another playmaker besides Tucker Kraft and Matthew Golden.
Watson has the big-play ability that allows him to gain flex value in just one bomb, should he get it. This week, the Packers have the Carolina Panthers on deck. While the Panthers aren’t the worst team in the NFL anymore, there should still be plenty of opportunities for the Packers to rack up yards and points. With so many low-floor and low-ceiling guys on waivers, Watson is the rare player who gives fantasy owners a player with a sky-high ceiling for no cost.
Troy Franklin at Houston Texans (48.2% Owned)
The Troy Franklin train is leaving the station, so you’d better get on while you can. Outside of a great Week 2 performance, Franklin has been pedestrian for most of the year. That has changed the past two weeks, with Franklin racking up 108 yards and three touchdowns on just nine receptions. While his reception totals leave something to be desired, he has seen 18 targets in that same time period.
This week, the Denver Broncos play a Houston Texans defense that is admittedly far better than the Dallas Cowboys defense they faced off against in Week 8. With that being said, his volume has been just behind Courtland Sutton over the past two weeks. Since Week 6, Sutton has had only two more targets. Houston does give up the fourth-fewest fantasy points to the fantasy football WR position this year, but Franklin has enough volume to mitigate that. In addition, Sutton will receive the WR1 treatment and coverage, which should leave plenty of opportunities for Franklin to score some points.
