Only two teams are on bye in Week 9 of the NFL season. However, those two teams (Pittsburgh and San Francisco) both rank in the top 5 for fantasy football scoring at the defense position. This means there are bound to be some managers needing Week 9 fantasy football defense streamers. Luckily, several other teams receive a bump at the position this week thanks to favorable matchups and the always-evolving injury list. When it comes to defenses, sometimes, it even works to hold your nose and stream one of the worst teams in the entire league which is always entertaining!

Pick the right fantasy football streamer option to get the win this week and continue down the path of fantasy greatness, which ends with you hoisting your league’s trophy, championship belt or champ chain. Without further ado, let’s have a look at our top D/ST streamers and best positional matchups for Week 9.

Fantasy Football Week 9 Defense Streamers

New Orleans Saints (43.8%)

When was the last time you can recall a head coach standing up at his postgame presser and flat-out saying that the opposing team’s offense “isn’t very good”? That really doesn’t happen due to unspoken mutual respect rules, but it did this past week after Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos dominated the lowly Carolina Panthers. With Bryce Young playing quarterback, the Panthers stand no chance whatsoever. Even if Andy Dalton returns, the Panthers aren’t a good offense. For that matter, they are only getting worse as Diontae Johnson was traded away earlier this week.

In other words, whichever defense gets the luxury of facing Carolina on a given Sunday can be thrust into the fantasy football Week 9 streamers conversation. This week, it happens to be a reeling Saints outfit. The first time these NFC South Division rivals met back in Week 1, New Orleans racked up four sacks, came away with three turnovers and allowed only 10 points. Yes, that was with Young under center. Yes, that was before the Saints fell into their current six-game losing skid. No matter who is at QB for the Panthers, this is an ideal spot for NOLA to get right.

Chicago Bears (45.4%)

How on earth the sixth-ranked D/ST in fantasy scoring on the season continues to be rostered in less than half of ESPN leagues is astounding to me. On the positive side, at least it makes the streamers search a bit easier. The Bears will have to turn the page from last week’s Hail Mary debacle in Landover in a hurry as they will once again be on the road to face a well-coached Arizona Cardinals team. With the Cardinals surrendering the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing defenses, this pick is more about a belief in the Bears than favorable matchup stats.

Chicago has only allowed one opponent to reach the 20-point threshold this season. For that matter, holding a well-schemed Washington offense to just 18 points last week (six of which came on the winning Hail Mary) served as yet another feather in the cap of this defense. The Bears have also been consistent with forcing turnovers this season. While the Cardinals played well last week, that performance can be chalked up to poor defensive play by Miami as well. Arizona hasn’t done much against buttoned-up defenses all year, so there’s no need to be scared off from the Bears when choosing fantasy football Week 9 streamers.

Tennessee Titans (6.1%)

The Titans have popped up in this column a couple of times already this season. Last week, Tennessee’s D/ST got obliterated by the wagon that is the Detroit Lions, particularly in the special teams department. As per usual, the offense also handed Detroit multiple short-field situations and thus did the defense absolutely no favors. It seems pretty safe to assume that the Titans won’t give up another 52 points in Week 9 when they host a poor New England Patriots outfit.

Mind you, the Patriots do come into this game with about as much momentum as a poorly coached and sparsely talented team can have after their upset win last week. For the season overall, however, New England has ceded the seventh-most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses. The Pats also could be without rookie quarterback Drake Maye after he exited last week’s game with a concussion. No offense to Jacoby Brissett, but the offense has largely been anemic with him under center this season. Look for the Titans to have a solid showing at home.
